About Meriwether Millworks, LLC
Meriwether Millworks, LLC is a sawmill and kiln business at 329 Puckett Creek Road in Canton, Georgia. They serve Cherokee County. Instead of hauling fallen or cleared trees to the landfill or cutting them for firewood, they mill the logs into boards you can use for a table, floors, siding, or a building on your property. They say they can help you "use your own timber" in a new home or commercial building. Their work includes dimensional lumber cut to the sizes you need, live edge slabs, custom posts and beams, and kiln drying. The kiln is a dehumidification kiln, and it also heats the wood to kill insects and their eggs. They mill and dry hardwoods such as red and white oak, walnut, maple, cherry, and hickory, along with pine and poplar. Hardwoods are air dried for three to six months before going into the kiln. Their portable sawmill service is paused for now. A job starts with a free phone call at 770-740-2684 about your logs. They talk through your goals before any cutting. They then send a proposal based on board feet, which requires the length of each log and its diameter at the small end. Trucking companies they work with can pick up your logs and deliver them. A 50 percent deposit is due based on the estimate, and kiln drying is charged at $0.06 per board foot per day. You can sell some of the milled wood to help pay for their services. This suits a landowner with hardwood or pine logs from a clearing job or a storm who wants the wood back as lumber and has a use for it. From meriwethermillworks.com, read 17 October 2026.
