Rayonier Inc. is a large corporate timber owner based in Dublin, Georgia. It is a real estate investment trust that owns over 4 million acres across the United States, and it works in Laurens County. It holds the Georgia Master Timber Harvester certification. Most of what it describes is its own land. In the U.S. South it owns about 3.15 million acres in eight states, Georgia among them, growing loblolly, slash, shortleaf and longleaf pine, along with oak, maple, poplar and hickory. Thinning removes crowded trees, and harvest uses standard equipment on flat ground and cable systems on steep slopes. Timber from its Southern forests goes to its own mills and to outside customers. It does not offer timber buying or logging services to outside landowners. Its forest message is "Healthy forests don’t happen by accident." This suits a landowner who wants to understand how a large corporate timber owner manages its own land, not someone to buy or cut timber on a neighbor's tract.
