Timber Buyers & Forestry Professionals in Swedesburg, IA

Geode Forestry, Inc. is a forestry consulting business in Swedesburg, Iowa. They work with landowners on tree planting and direct seeding, forest management, timber stand improvement, and timber appraisals, harvesting and timber sales. Bob Petrzelka has owned and operated the business since January 1, 2000, and forester Gretchen Cline joined in October 2001; both hold BS degrees in Forest Resource Management from Iowa State University. When it comes to a timber sale, they run it through a competitive bidding process rather than selling direct to a logging company, saying that route "could result in a lower price for your timber because they may not be incentivized to offer the highest amount." Most of the work with a landowner happens in person on the land itself, since "most of our consulting happens on location, as it's much easier to assess our clients needs and their proposed project scope in person." A forest management plan is built around the landowner's own goals, with action items the owner can tackle alone or hand off to others. Geode Forestry serves Henry County. This fits a landowner in or near Henry County who wants a forester involved from the first walk through the woods to the final bid, rather than handling the sale alone or going straight to a logger.
