About Sawmill Herb Farm

Sawmill Herb Farm is a herb farm at 119 Old Sunderland Road in Montague, Massachusetts, in Franklin County. It is not a timber business, despite the name. The farm grows medicinal and culinary herbs and sells them fresh, dried, or as tea blends, along with seedlings for gardens. The farm grows over 100 varieties of herbs. Customers can join a Fresh Herb CSA, buy fresh herbs a la carte from May to October, or buy dried herbs from its apothecary. The nursery sells seedlings, and the farm runs the Somatic Herbalism Apprenticeship, a seven-month program. Susan Pincus started the farm in 2013 after growing food and medicine for over 18 years. She farmed for 11 years at Grow Food Northampton in Florence before moving to Montague. Pickup is at the farm in Montague and at host shops in Florence, Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is an operating farm with no farm store. Sales are pre-orders placed through the website or by email, and visits must be scheduled and confirmed in advance. The farm describes itself as "Fresh Herbs & Seedlings for Making Your Own Medicine." It suits a landowner who wants herbs for the kitchen or seedlings for a garden, not one looking to sell timber.
