Matt's Healthy Woods & Wildlife works out of Cameron, Missouri. Matt describes it as "a full service forestry consulting company," and that is the shape of the business: advice and hands-on work across the whole life of a woodlot, not just a timber sale. The work on offer includes forest management plans, forest stand improvement, wildlife habitat enhancements, timber sale marking and administration, timber value appraisals, emerald ash borer treatments, boundary marking, tree planting, GPS and GIS services, and presentations. Matt holds a Fisheries and Wildlife degree from the University of Missouri and has over 10 years of experience. He is a Certified Forester through the Society of American Foresters and a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture, and he has served as president of the Missouri Consulting Foresters Association since 2013. Staff Forester Tyler Cox has a forestry degree from Southern Illinois University and is also a member of that association. This is a business built around a broad idea of forest health, not just board feet. As Matt puts it, whether the goal is "maximum timber production, whitetail habitat, overall forest health, or anything in between," that range is what they work with. Matt's Healthy Woods & Wildlife suits a landowner who wants one person to help plan, mark, and manage a woodlot over time, including wildlife and tree health work alongside any timber sale, rather than someone looking only for a one-time timber buyer. Plant Health Care ProgramTree MaintenanceConsultingLandscape Design & Installation

Metropolitan Forestry Services is a tree care and consulting business in Ballwin, Missouri, working throughout the St. Louis area. They've been at it since 1976, so this is a long-running outfit, not someone new to the trade. Their main work is tree care rather than timber harvest: a Plant Health Care Program, tree maintenance, consulting, and landscape design and installation. Their staff are Certified Arborists, and they describe their approach as "science-based," built on "over 40 years of experience." This points to ongoing tree health and landscape work, the kind of thing a homeowner or landowner calls on for maintaining trees, treating disease, or planning plantings, rather than a timber sale. There's no acreage minimum stated, and nothing on their pages points to buying standing timber or logging. Their consulting service is arboricultural, meaning tree health and care advice, not a forestry sale. This fits a landowner near St. Louis who wants ongoing care for trees already standing on their property, not someone looking to sell timber or have a tract logged. Matt's Healthy Woods & Wildlife is a forestry consulting business run out of Cameron, Missouri, with Matt Arndt listed in Higbee. Matt describes the company as "a full service forestry consulting company," and the work covers a lot of ground: forest management plans, forest stand improvement, wildlife habitat enhancements, timber sale marking and administration, timber value appraisals, emerald ash borer treatments, boundary marking, tree planting, GPS and GIS services, and presentations. The approach isn't limited to just getting timber off your land. Matt says he wants to help "whether you want to manage your forest for maximum timber production, whitetail habitat, overall forest health, or anything in between," so this is someone you'd call whether your main goal is a timber sale or just keeping the woods healthy for years to come. Matt holds credentials as a Certified Forester through the Society of American Foresters and a Certified Arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture, and he's a member of the Missouri Consulting Foresters Association. Staff forester Tyler Cox, based in Higbee, is also an MCFA member. This fits a landowner who wants someone thinking past the next timber sale, toward soil, wildlife, and the long-term shape of the woods, and who wants a consultant with forestry and wildlife credentials rather than just a timber buyer. Clearwater Forest Consultants, LLC works out of Piedmont, Missouri, handling timber sales and consulting forestry for landowners who want to know what their trees are worth before they sell. Doug Enyart has been practicing forestry since 1985 and set up as a private consulting forester in 1998. The work covers appraisals, timber sale design and administration, forest and wildlife management plans, timber stand improvement and thinning, tree planting, forest road layout, watershed protection, wildlife habitat work, boundary line maintenance, timber taxation, and forest certification. When a sale goes forward, they put together a prospectus laying out the details of the timber, a bid form for buyers to submit an offer, and a sale map showing the land and its features, so the process runs on paper anyone can read before money changes hands. Doug Enyart holds SAF Certified Forester #961, is an ISA Certified Arborist, carries an Arkansas Registered Forester license and an Arkansas state appraiser registration, and belongs to the Association of Consulting Foresters. They work across Missouri and into surrounding states including Arkansas. Nothing on their site sets a stated minimum acreage, but the smallest tract they show handling is the Williamson Tract, the Cypress Creek Timber Sale in Ripley County, at 80 acres. Their own words on the work: they aim to "take the uncertainty out of marketing your timber" and to protect "the uncut trees, soil, and water" along the way. This fits a landowner with a larger tract who wants a formal, documented sale process, not a quick handshake deal. From clearwaterforestconsultants.com, read 3 October 2026.

Management PlanningTimber Sale Marking & AdministrationTimber Stand Improvement (TSI)Crop Tree Release (CTR)Tree & Shrub Planting+1 more

Scenic Rivers Farm & Forest Consulting, LLC works out of Eminence, Missouri, helping landowners sell timber from start to finish. Michael Gaskins runs it, and the work covers the southern Missouri Ozarks and the central hardwoods region, including northeastern Dent County. They handle management planning, timber sale marking and administration, timber stand improvement, crop tree release, tree and shrub planting, prescribed fire, wildlife habitat work, timber valuation and appraisal, boundary maintenance, hardened stream crossings, and pasture or food plot work for livestock and wildlife. Species they work with include white oak, red oak, sugar maple, bald cypress, dogwood, and hickory, among other oak trees. When it comes time for a timber sale, the forester marks the trees to be cut with paint, estimates the board-foot volume of each one, and gives the landowner a spreadsheet of species, size, and volume before anything is cut. From there they can put together a bid solicitation, host a showing for bidders, open sealed lump-sum bids, and draw up the sale contract. Once logging starts, the forester checks the site along the way and does a final walk-through when it's done to close things out. They describe stumpage as "essentially the price paid at the sawmill less the cost of logging and transportation," and say the goal is to help a landowner "receive the most revenue for your marked standing timber while protecting the value in your woods now and for the future." This fits a landowner in the southern Missouri Ozarks who wants someone to walk the whole timber sale with them, from marking trees to closing out the contract. Wildscapes is a landscaping and forestry company based in Springfield, Missouri, serving Greene County. It was founded in 2023 by Katy Henson, an ISA Certified Arborist and Missouri Consulting Forester with a background in horticulture and forestry. This isn't a place to come if you're looking to sell standing timber outright. Instead, Wildscapes offers a forestry consultation where they "walk your property, meet about goals, and discuss ways to get there," covering management, habitat, and local resources. They also do what they call FSI, selectively thinning woodlands to improve forest structure and "restore biodiversity in degraded woodlands," rather than clearing everything down to a stand of oaks for later harvest. Beyond that, they handle seeding and planting, including trees after a harvest, fruit tree maintenance, and general arborist work like tree planting and consultations. Wildscapes also runs a landscape design and install side of the business, working with native plantings, edible gardens, and rain gardens, plus community programs like plant walks, foraging consultations, and a permaculture project aimed at food security and habitat. This fits a landowner in Greene County who wants help thinking through the health and habitat of their woods, or who wants planting and landscape work done with an ecological eye, rather than someone looking to sell logs for cash. Western Missouri Forestry is a consulting forestry business based in Lees Summit, Missouri, run by Brad King. He founded the company in 2010 and has been offering consulting forestry services to Missouri landowners since then. The work covers forest inventory, timber sale administration, preparation of timber tax basis, and appraising trees. Species handled include Black Walnut, Black Oak, White Oak, Sycamore, Bitternut, Basswood, Eastern Red Cedar, Red Maple, White Mulberry, and Ash trees. Brad serves Jackson County. He is a member of the Missouri Consulting Foresters Association, takes part in the Call Before You Cut program, and holds ISA certified arborist status. The smallest job shown on the business's own pages was 25 acres: "This client sold 34 trees on 25 acres for $28,300." The approach favors selective cuts of mature trees, aiming to "turn many stands into a decadal revenue source for our clients" rather than clearing a stand all at once. This fits a landowner in Jackson County who wants a stand managed over time with selective harvests, not just a single one-time sale. From westernmissouriforestry.com, read 8 October 2026.

Heartland Forest Consulting, LLC is a forestry consulting business in Ashland, Missouri. They've been helping landowners with their land and forests since 2009, working out of central and northeast Missouri, including Boone County. They are not loggers. As they put it, "We are not loggers. We are forest managers." Their work covers forest inventory and management plans, timber sales, forest stand improvement, prescribed fire, EAB treatment, and invasive species management. For a timber sale, they walk the property to identify which trees to sell based on the landowner's goals, estimate market value, reach out to buyers, recommend one based on bids and reputation, help with the sale contract, hold a pre-harvest meeting, and check in while the work is underway before giving a final assessment. They don't work on commission. Instead they charge for the acres on which they mark timber plus a flat administration fee, which means their pay isn't tied to how many trees come down. Their foresters and arborists are certified, and the business is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the International Society of Arboriculture. This fits a landowner in central or northeast Missouri, especially Boone County, who wants someone to handle the whole timber sale process on their behalf rather than cut the trees themselves, and who likes the idea of paying a flat fee instead of a cut of the sale. Antlers and Oaks Land Stewardship Services, LLC is in Nixa, Missouri. Tim Russell runs it, offering forest and wildlife consulting to help landowners' "lands prosper and remain healthy to sustain agricultural, wildlife and forest resources on their properties." This is consulting work, not logging or timber buying. The services include forest and timber inventory, timber stand improvement (TSI), forest resource inventory, wildlife habitat establishment, prescribed fire planning, and a forest or woodland stewardship plan. Tim works with oaks, hickories, and Chinkapin oak. The process starts with a woodland inventory of tree species, size-class, and density, then a written plan with maps and an annual schedule for carrying out the work. He covers Christian County and has experience across Missouri, Kansas, and Arkansas. He is a Certified Wildlife Biologist with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation and Management, certifications in forest management, and 40 years of experience in natural resources work. This listing doesn't give a stated minimum acreage. The business does describe pricing tied to "the first 500 acres," which suggests it's set up to work with larger tracts, though that's about pricing structure rather than a floor on size. This fits a landowner who wants a written stewardship plan covering wildlife habitat and forest health together, not just a timber sale, and who doesn't mind the consulting being part of a broader land management approach rather than a quick harvest transaction. Yarnell Forestry Consulting is a forestry consulting business based in Marshfield, Missouri, with Laclede County among the counties it serves. They work across southwest and south central Missouri. The work they take on covers forest management plans, timber valuation and appraisals, timber sale marking and administration, timber inventory, GIS mapping, forest stand improvement (also called timber stand improvement), woodland thinning, temporary forest openings, invasive plant control, and insect or disease damage diagnosis. They mention oak trees specifically, noting that stand improvement work can help increase acorn production for wildlife. Their approach starts with a forest management plan: "a professional forester evaluates your woods and prescribes target thinning levels and focus areas" before any thinning or harvest work begins. Eric Yarnell founded the business in Marshfield in 2011. He's an SAF Certified Forester and an ISA Certified Arborist, and belongs to the Association of Consulting Foresters, Missouri Consulting Foresters Association, Society of American Foresters, International Society of Arboriculture, and Missouri Forest Products Association. Cade Schmitz, also with the firm, is an SAF Candidate Certified Forester and Associate Wildlife Biologist. Their stated mission is to give "sound forest management advice and timber marketing assistance" to forest landowners. This fits a landowner who wants a forest management plan done right before any cutting starts, especially one managing oak woods for timber, wildlife, or both, in southwest or south central Missouri. When it comes to a timber sale, they say they will "manage and supervise your timber sale to protect your interests" and work to "effectively market your timber" while looking at ways to minimize taxes. Their own words on what they offer a landowner: "Let an expert guide you to your goals." They are listed as serving Livingston County. They are a Candidate Member with the association listed in their registration. The business carries $1,000,000 general liability insurance and belongs to the International Society of Arboriculture and the Missouri Consulting Foresters Association. It describes its focus as "Urban forestry services" in Mid-Missouri. Yarnell Forestry Consulting, LLC is a forestry consulting business based in Marshfield, Missouri. Eric Yarnell founded the company in 2011, and the team now includes Cade Schmitz. They work with forest landowners on management advice and timber marketing, aiming, as they put it, to help you "love your property more than you already do." The work covers a wide range: forest management plans, timber valuation and appraisals, timber sale marking and administration, timber cost basis and forest taxation advice, timber inventory, GIS mapping, forest stand improvement and woodland thinning, temporary forest openings, invasive plant control, urban tree inventory, and insect or disease diagnosis. Their stand improvement notes mention oak trees specifically, pointing out that thinning can boost acorn production for wildlife. They describe their usual starting point this way: "A forest management plan is the best place to begin," with a forester evaluating the woods before any thinning or harvest work happens. They serve Webster County, within a broader area described as southwest and south central Missouri. Eric Yarnell is an SAF Certified Forester and ISA Certified Arborist, and belongs to the Association of Consulting Foresters, the Missouri Consulting Foresters Association, the Society of American Foresters, the International Society of Arboriculture, and the Missouri Forest Products Association. West Logging is a family business out of Fair Play, Missouri, buying standing timber and running logging jobs for landowners. They've been at it for three generations and over 60 years, working across Missouri and five neighboring states: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois. Their main interest is walnut and oak, but they also take on white oak, black oak, ash, cherry, sycamore, and soft maple. The work covers contract logging, felling, timber cruising, forest management, and full log and timber sales. For a standing-timber sale, they describe the process as evaluation first, then marketing to buyers, then cutting, hauling, and payment. They offer a free timber evaluation before anything is agreed to, and say "you'll always know the true value of your timber before a sale." They list themselves as PTH certified and fully insured. If you have a woodlot of 10 acres or more, that's their stated starting point for forest management work, including harvesting, inventory, valuation, and a management plan. They're listed as serving Polk County. This fits a landowner with a mixed hardwood woodlot, walnut or oak especially, who wants one outfit to handle the whole sale from evaluation through to payment rather than piecing it together themselves. Texas Timber Company LLC buys timber and does logging, land clearing, and forestry consulting out of Diana, Texas. They say it plainly: "We buy land and timber all over East Texas, providing competitive prices and a hassle-free process for landowners looking to sell." They take on first thinning, second thinning, select harvest, clear cut, real estate aesthetic harvest, mulching, land clearing, land management, and timber management plans. Species bought include pine, hardwood, cedar, gum, and cypress. For a sale, they pay either a lump sum up front or weekly payments per ton, and you're paid for every piece of timber that leaves your property. They service at least a 100 mile radius of the Longview area, and name Gregg and Upshur counties among areas they've worked in. They say they're Prologger Certified and fully insured, and that collectively their team has 50 years of experience. For logging contracts, they need at least 10 acres of high quality timber. That said, their smallest listed job was a select harvest in Diana, Texas, for a landowner working to keep his property under a timber exemption, on a crew that handles tracts as small as 5 acres. This fits a landowner in East Texas with a modest stand of mature timber, who wants either a straight timber sale or ongoing management to protect an exemption, and who's comfortable choosing between a lump sum or being paid by the ton as wood is hauled off. Questions landowners ask

How many forestry consultants are there in Missouri?

53 are listed on TimberClear, sourced from the Missouri forestry register, covering 1 counties between them.

How do I choose between them?

Start local and get more than one. A business based in your county knows the mills and the ground; one registered for all one hundred counties may be three hours away. Every listing here shows how far its office is from the county you are looking at, so "will travel" is never mistaken for "is local". TimberClear has not vetted, verified or endorsed anybody on this site.
