Timber Buyers & Forestry Professionals in Jackson, OH

Superior Hardwoods of Ohio, Inc. is a sawmill company based in Wellston, Ohio, with other locations in McArthur, Cambridge, and Vincent, Ohio, and a log yard in Parkersburg, West Virginia. They buy timber, log it, mill it, and also put together forest management plans for landowners. The company has been at it since 1974 and says it is now in its "Four Generations" of family operation. They work in Ash, Cherry, Hickory, Hard Maple, Soft Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, Poplar, and Walnut, and they cut both green and kiln-dried lumber. Their process is to appraise and purchase the timber, harvest it according to the landowner's plan, and then manage replenishment for future forest health. Their foresters hold degrees in forest management from schools like Hocking College, the University of Kentucky, and West Virginia University, with some of the team carrying 25 plus years in the field. They describe their work as "responsible logging, precision milling," done across Ohio, West Virginia, and Northern Appalachia, and they're named as serving Jackson County specifically. There's no stated minimum acreage, but their forestry page talks about assessing "each parcel of timber," suggesting they'll look at individual tracts of any size rather than turning away smaller ones outright. This is a fit for a landowner who wants a company with its own mills, its own foresters on staff, and a long family history behind it, rather than a single independent buyer working alone.
