Timber Buyers & Forestry Professionals in Nelsonville, OH

Ohio Foresters LLC is a consulting forestry and timber buying business based in Logan, Ohio, serving Hocking County. They work on timber sales and forest management in Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. The team brings "over 72 years of combined forestry experience" to timber sales and forest management. Services include timber inventory, timber appraisals, timber marketing, forest management plans, wildlife management, timber trespass investigation, tract mapping, boundary marking, reforestation, and timber stand improvement. They handle black walnut, red oak, white oak, hard (sugar) maple, soft (red) maple, yellow (tulip) poplar, black cherry, and hickory. For a sale, they use a sealed bid process: a forester shows your timber to a number of companies, each submits a bid by a closing date, and the forester reviews the bids with you. This can take a few weeks to a few months. They also note that "unlike the sawmills or logging companies, we work for you," and a forester will visit the property during logging to check the company is meeting the contract. This suits a landowner in Hocking County who wants a forester to run the whole sale process and stay involved once the logging starts, rather than just getting an appraisal and walking away.
