Exley Lumber Company

About Exley Lumber Company

Exley Lumber Company is a family-owned sawmill in Clyo, in Effingham County. Its main trade is sawmilling, and it also buys timber and runs its own logging. The business has operated since 1922, when James William Exley, Sr. bought his first piece of timber, and the family has run it across four generations. The sawmill is small and specializes in rough green timbers and other wood dimensions. Ninety percent of its raw materials are bought locally. It works with exotic hardwoods and traditional softwoods. Listed services include timber sales, sawmill services, custom lumber cutting, and structural timber supply. The logging operation has cut the same tract for some owners as many as three times over the business's lifetime. Timber sales come with a team that guides you through each step, with an emphasis on responsible forestry practices. The business serves Clyo and nearby places including Eden, Ellabell, Rincon, Guyton, Pooler, Sunbury, and Ridgeland. Other people's property is managed "as if it were our own." The main number is 912-754-3716. It suits a landowner who wants one family business to buy standing timber, log it, and mill it, and who would rather deal with a mill that has been in the same family since 1922.
