About Claybourn Walters Logging Co., Inc.

Claybourn Walters Logging Co., Inc. is a logging business based in Fairmont. Its main trade is logging, and it also buys timber. For more than 65 years it has offered timber harvesting, site preparation, road work, and brokerage for landowners. Its land and timber buyers are located throughout the Carolinas. The work starts with a visit to the land. The company likes to "walk each tract with the landowner" to learn how and where they want the work done. Before any crew comes on, the company flags property boundaries, identifies streams and flood zones, and looks for other hazards. It also gets up-to-date parcel maps and contacts neighboring landowners and the relevant environmental agencies. During the harvest, the landowner can reach the company at any time. The harvesting is done by contract logging crews, which the company describes as certified. It requires every crew to attend its state's certification course and keep it active, and it checks that each crew has the necessary insurance documents. Operations follow industry Best Management Practices meant to protect water quality and wildlife habitat. Once the cut is finished, the company will recommend replanting options and can replant harvested tracts with new seedlings. To reach the main office, call 910-628-7075. Claybourn Walters Logging Co., Inc. suits a landowner who wants one company to handle the walk-through, the paperwork, the cut, and the replanting, and who wants to walk the land with someone before any work begins.
