Independent Loggers

South & Jones Timber Co is a sawmill in Evanston, Wyoming, running since 1943. They cut rough cut lumber and make wood pellets from their own sawdust, and they also do logging. Over the years they've harvested timber from the Uintah, Cache, Ashley, Wasatch and Bridger-Teton National Forests, along with land leased from private individuals and ranchers. They serve Uinta County. There's no landowner sale process spelled out, no tree species named, and no tract size given, so if you're sitting on a small parcel it's worth calling to ask whether your acreage is something they'd even look at. What they do say is that "South & Jones continues providing high quality timber products as always," and that their mill setup "uses 95% of every piece of timber they cut, resulting in very little waste." That's a mill description more than a landowner-sale pitch, so come with questions about how they'd handle your specific property. This one suits a landowner near Evanston or in Uinta County who wants a long-running local mill with its own logging arm, and who doesn't mind doing some legwork to find out how a small timber sale with them would actually work.
