Timber Buyers

Saratoga Forest Management is a sawmill and timber buyer based in Saratoga, Wyoming. They pay private landowners for their timber and help with timber management programs, and they also take on forest management and urgent tree removal work. Their timber sourcing focuses on lodgepole pine and engelmann spruce, with harvesting of dead lodgepole and thinning of spruce groves. They describe their work as following best management practices to protect watersheds, timberlands, and wildlife habitats. The mill itself was acquired by its current owners in 2012, after which it was retrofitted and upgraded to resume producing lumber. Their urgent tree removal program is built for landowners and managers in Colorado and Wyoming, and the business names Carbon County as an area it serves. If you want to talk with them about a sale or removal, the process is simple: you call them at 307.326.3082 to discuss it. Their stated minimum is 50 acres of infected forest, their own words being that the program is "designed for Colorado and Wyoming landowners and managers with 50 or more acres of infected forests." This fits a landowner with a larger tract of dead or infected lodgepole or spruce, especially someone dealing with beetle-killed timber who wants to work with a mill that also buys standing timber directly.
