Timber Buyers & Forestry Professionals in Nutrioso, AZ

Navajo Forestry Department is based in Fort Defiance, Arizona. It is not a private timber buyer or logging contractor. It is the department that manages and protects the Navajo Nation's forest and woodland resources, work it describes this way: "The role of the department is to manage and protect the Navajo Nation Forest/ Woodland resources for the beneficial and perpetual use of the Navajo people." Its work covers forest inventory, woodland management, thinning, pole marking, reforestation, timber sales preparation and administration, enforcement, and permitting. On the timber side, once a sale gets approval it is advertised for purchase, and the purchaser who buys it is then responsible to harvest the marked trees, handle the slash, and haul the logs out. The department also grows Ponderosa Pine seedlings through its reforestation program. It was established by the commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1971. Its service area is the Navajo Nation, and it serves Apache County. There's no stated minimum acreage, and no private-land work is described; this is forest and woodland management on Navajo Nation lands, with timber sold through advertised sales rather than bought directly from individual landowners. This fits someone with land inside the Navajo Nation who needs to understand how timber sales, permits, or woodland management work there, not a private landowner elsewhere looking to sell standing timber off their own acreage.
