About Redwood Empire
Redwood Empire is a sawmill and lumber milling business in Cloverdale, California, with a second mill in Philo. They say "with the support of two sawmills, Redwood Empire-Cloverdale and Redwood Empire-Philo, we can fill your order promptly." The work here is milling, not standing-timber buying. They do specialty milling, resaw and surfacing work including S4S, S2S, and S1S, plus custom patterns. They mill Redwood, Douglas Fir, Plywood, Cedar, Treated lumber, Pine, and Ipe. Orders that are in stock ship within 24 to 48 hours, and they run truck delivery along with national distribution, so lumber can move well beyond the mill itself. For service area, they list Sonoma County in California. The business started as a family operation in 1971 and says it is still family owned. Nothing here points to a minimum acreage, since this is a milling operation working from lumber orders rather than standing timber tracts. This fits a landowner, or more often a builder or contractor, who already has logs or lumber needs and wants them milled to spec, rather than someone looking for help selling timber off their land.
