Reclamation Lumber LLC is a sawmill and millwork business in New Haven, Connecticut, working out of a 20,000 square foot former trolley garage on Grand Avenue. They do not cut your standing woodland timber. Instead they take down barns, factories, mills and warehouses, board by board, and mill what comes out of them into antique flooring, old-growth structural beams, barn board, box beams, mantels, counters and custom millwork. Species they work with include antique white oak, white pine, heart pine and chestnut, along with Nicaraguan river wood and Caribbean heart pine. If you have a standing barn, an old timber frame, or salvaged stock sitting on your land, that is what they buy: "We buy standing barns, timber frames and salvaged stock." Material is sorted before it is milled: "Every piece is metal-detected, de-nailed and graded by species, thickness and character before it goes anywhere near a blade."
