Heartland Lumber Co.
About Heartland Lumber Co.
Heartland Lumber Co. is a sawmill in Anna, Illinois, run by Noah Prater. They turn logs into fresh cut live edge slabs, the kind of work that fits a landowner who has a few trees down or wants slabs cut rather than a standing-timber sale. They work in Red Oak, White Oak, Black Oak, Pin Oak, Swamp Oak, Pecan, Sycamore, Poplar, Catalpa, Walnut, and Hickory. "Logs can be dropped off or we can pick them up depending on the situation." Once a log is on site, it gets cut to size and stacked to air dry, then it is ready for purchase or pick up. Slabs are priced by size and type of wood, starting "anywhere from $50 and up." They serve Union County. This fits a landowner who already has logs on hand, or a tree or two coming down, and wants them turned into usable slabs rather than sold as standing timber. It is not the place for someone looking to sell a tract of timber outright or hire a logging crew; this is slab and milling work, log by log. From heartlandlumber.com, read 10 October 2026.
