North Woods Logging
About North Woods Logging
North Woods Logging is a logging contractor based in East Jordan, Michigan, run by the Pinney family, who have worked timber in the Jordan River Valley for generations. Scott Pinney started the business in 2014, after years running his own tree service, and his father, brother, cousin, and nephew work alongside him today. They take on logging jobs, plus tree removal, lot clearing, and firewood. Work starts with a free walk of your property to look at the age, health, and quality of the timber and the canopy, so they can figure out which trees to take to "best open the forest canopy" for future growth. From there they put together an appraisal based on what you want from the land, write up a contract covering the timber, the down payment, the timeframe, and your share, then mark trees and build any needed roads before the crew cuts, sorts, and hauls to the mill. You get receipts from every load. When the cutting is done they clean up the trails and landing and reseed the roads. They say "no project is too small or too large for us," and note they're fully insured. They serve Charlevoix County and describe their reach as northwestern lower Michigan, with roots in Antrim County. No tree species or minimum acreage are named on their pages. This fits a landowner near East Jordan who wants a family crew that walks the ground first and handles the whole job, from the first look to cleanup, rather than farming pieces out to different outfits.
