About Creative Log Structures
Creative Log Structures is a timber shop in Bemidji, Minnesota, in Beltrami County. It makes log and timber trusses, hand-scribed railings, mantels and table blanks. Its own sawmill, planer, kiln and borate treatment work all sit in the same shop. Jamie Olson founded the business, and Nick Baumann owns it now. It has worked in logs since the 1990s, more than 30 years in all. The sawmill cuts logs up to 40 feet long into slabs, siding, blanks and dimensions milled to order. The kiln brings timber down to 8 to 12 percent moisture content. Borate treatment protects the wood without turning it green, as green treated wood is. Trusses come in king-post, hammer-beam or custom forms, pre-fit in the shop before they ship. The company also helps builders, architects and homeowners source logs and lumber for custom homes and cabins. It does not install the work itself and works with local contractors for that. Most projects start with a quote request, made through the contact form, by phone at 218-586-2271, or by email. Include the component, dimensions, wood preferences and timeline. The shop is open Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, and it ships anywhere. Creative Log Structures suits a landowner who is building a log home or cabin and wants the logs sourced, milled, dried and treated in one shop. It is not a fit for a landowner who wants to sell standing timber. From creativelogstructures.com, read 3 November 2026.
