Rajala Mill Co. is a family sawmill and millwork business in Bigfork, Minnesota, working Minnesota woods since 1902. It trades as Minnesota Timber & Millwork. The business works directly with homeowners, builders and woodworkers, one order at a time, and mills and finishes wood to the customer's exact order. Its products include kiln dried timbers, flooring, paneling, sauna wood, trim, siding, stair components, shingles and prefinishing. The species include white pine, red oak, white oak, birch, basswood, white cedar, red pine, tamarack, hard maple and black ash, among others. The logs come from Rajala Forestry, the family's own forest business, which privately maintains thousands of acres of woodland. Timbers are air dried for years and kiln dried for months. They can be left rough, resawn for a bright rough-sawn face, planed smooth, or hand finished with the shop's Finn Finish, which scrapes, scores and gouges the face to taste. It suits a landowner who wants Minnesota wood milled into finished flooring, paneling or timbers for a home or shop build. It is not a place to sell standing trees or logs.
