About Northstar Hardwoods Inc
Northstar Hardwoods Inc is a family-owned Minnesota firewood business in Outing, in the "Great Northwoods" of north central Minnesota. It is a new business, backed by over 50 years of experience in the timber harvesting industry. Visits are by appointment, and Samantha Croatt is the president. The firewood is locally sourced from Minnesota forests. It is kiln-dried and heat-treated to kill bugs, mold, fungus, and spores. It is certified by the MN Department of Agriculture and meets USDA federal standards, which makes it "Safe to Move" anywhere in the US. Once it leaves the kiln, it stays undercover until it is delivered. Kiln-dried wood is easier to light, burns hotter and longer, and creates less smoke. The business also points out that wood has held a stable price while gas, oil, and electric heat have kept rising. Northstar Hardwoods Inc does not buy standing timber, tracts, or logs from landowners, so a landowner looking to sell timber should look elsewhere. It suits a landowner who wants dry, certified hardwood firewood for home heat. From northstarhardwoods.com, read 8 October 2026.
