MN Woodcraft LLC is a family-owned woodworking business in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, with three generations working in it and over 30 years of woodworking behind it. It runs its own sawmill and kiln, and it builds custom kitchens and built-ins, hardwood flooring, millwork and paneling. The business says it salvages and harvests trees, then saws and dries the lumber itself, so the work goes "From forest to finished product" in one shop. The sawmill is a Wood-Mizer LX 450 that takes logs up to 36 inches across and cuts boards up to 20 feet long. Sawmilling is $150 per hour. The kiln holds up to 2,000 board feet, and drying takes about a week per inch of lumber. Kiln rates are $225 per day for a full load, $150 per day for a half load, and $100 per day for a minimum load. The species it works with are white oak, red oak, hackberry and black walnut. One customer had logs from their own land sawn, dried and made into kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, trim, railing and shelves. The shop's stated goal is to keep trees out of the chipper and the landfill.
