Superior Artisan Wood
About Superior Artisan Wood
Superior Artisan Wood is a sawmill and kiln drying business at 486 Palmetto Road in Tupelo, Mississippi. It mills logs and turns urban trees into lumber, beams, mantels and live-edge slabs. It says it works with woodworkers, contractors, arborists and homeowners, and it also sells native hardwood lumber and slabs. You can have a log milled on your property with a portable sawmill, or take it to the Tupelo yard for stationary milling. The mill handles logs up to 60 inches in diameter. Species it names include walnut, white oak, pecan, cherry, red cedar, cypress and ash. Lumber can be vacuum kiln dried to a target moisture content of 6 to 8 percent, and the business says the process also heat-sterilizes wood against insects, mold and pests. It will dry wood you bring in, not only wood it has milled. The business says it is the only certified urban wood producer in Mississippi, and that it is backed by years of hands-on woodworking and timber work. Its stated service area covers North and Central Mississippi, West Tennessee, Northwest Alabama and the broader Mid-South, with Lee County named among its places. It also takes donated trees, though only select species and sizes that fit its milling capacity. Its own line for this is "Give Your Tree a Second Life." This suits a landowner with a tree that has to come down and who wants it milled into boards or slabs close to home. From superiorartisanwood.com, read 18 October 2026.
