About Northwoods Forestry
Northwoods Forestry is a consulting forestry business out of Carthage, New York. They've been at it since 1987. Their work covers timber sales and supervision, along with forest management plans, boundary line maintenance, food plots and timber theft investigations. For a timber sale, they mark what's ready for thinning or sale, walk you through bidding including sealed bids, and stay on through logging supervision, checking that the crew building roads and cutting has proper insurance so you're not left exposed if someone gets hurt. They say their "primary goal is to ensure the landowner isn't cheated by loggers," and that they'll "be by your side to make sure every part of the transaction is transparent and fair." They also handle 480a management plans for the New York tax abatement program, boundary posting, 2-3 acre wildlife food plots, and timber theft investigations if you think you've been robbed. They'll take on 5 acres, by their own word, right up through 500. Their service area runs across Lewis, St. Lawrence, Oneida, Jefferson and Oswego counties, including Watertown, Fort Drum, Old Forge and Lowville. They describe themselves as veteran owned and operated. This fits a landowner in Northern New York, especially one with a smaller parcel, who wants someone standing between them and the logger through the whole sale, not just a one-time appraisal.
