About Joshua Tree Forestry Consulting, INC.
Joshua Tree Forestry Consulting, INC. works out of Elizaville, New York, doing forestry consulting and logging across the Hudson Valley, including Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia Counties. They've been at this for over 20 years, working on tens of thousands of acres in that time. The work covers forest management plans, timber harvesting, wetlands delineation and permit consultation, tree identification, tree plans, and permit representation. If you're selling timber, the process starts with a visit to your property, sometimes more than one, to put together a proposal at no cost to you. From there they build a timber prospectus covering the amount, quality and type of trees to be harvested, handle the marking and layout, and send the prospectus out to "a select pool of quality forest product companies to see what the market will bear." They say "We design a financial arrangement where YOU ARE PAID for your timber." Josh Kowan, the forester behind the business, has been doing this for over twenty years and has also worked as a licensed real estate salesperson with Houlihan Lawrence. Joshua Tree, Inc. has been certified to delineate wetlands throughout the Hudson Valley since 2004, and they've handled wetlands and permit work alongside timber jobs for landowners in the area. This fits a Columbia County landowner who wants one firm to walk the whole process, from a no-cost first look at the property through to marketing the timber to buyers, especially if permits, wetlands, or a future sale of the land are also part of the picture.
