Hector Logging

About Hector Logging

Hector Logging is a family-owned logging crew based in Hector, New York, working in the Finger Lakes region. They've been logging in the Finger Lakes since 1983. They take on selective hardwood harvesting, low-impact logging, and woodlot management, with particular markets for Black Walnut and White Oak. The crew walks your land first and identifies which trees to take, then gives you an estimate of timber value with a minimum guarantee. They work on a percentage split of the timber value, selling logs on site, and you get log tallies and a sale breakdown when it's done. They also clear and grade woods roads as part of the job. Their stated approach is to "cut trees to grow trees," balancing a harvest now against the woodlot's health later. Their base is in Hector, and they describe their work radius as flexible for the right jobs, serving Schuyler County. They look for properties with a minimum of 10 acres of standing timber. This suits a landowner in Schuyler County with a hardwood lot of at least 10 acres, especially one with walnut or oak, who wants a crew that plans for what the woods look like afterward, not just what comes out of them now.
