Future Forest Consulting is a forestry consulting business based in New York, with a main office in Naples and a satellite office in Syracuse. It works with landowners who have timber to sell and handles the whole process for them rather than just buying wood outright. Their way of working: they mark trees on your land according to silvicultural guidelines and your own goals, then put the job out to bid among 75 to 100 logging companies in the region, with the aim of getting the best price. Once the bids come in, a timber sale contract is drawn up between buyer and landowner. As they put it, "All money is received before the logging firm begins work on the property," and the logger has to carry insurance and post a performance bond "to ensure contract requirements are adhered to." They work with Eastern Hemlock, Beech, Red Oak, Black Cherry, Ash, and White Pine.
