About Capital Sawmill Service, Tree Service & More

Capital Sawmill Service, Tree Service & More is a tree service and sawmill in Nassau, New York, on US Highway 20 southeast of Albany. It takes down and prunes trees, grinds stumps, clears land, chips wood, and hauls away debris. It also mills logs into custom lumber, live-edge slabs, and finished pieces such as bar tops, table tops, mantels, and deer plaques. The tree crew is licensed and insured. Owner Steven Daniels has been doing tree service for over 30 years. In 1995 he added a portable band sawmill to make better use of the trees the company removed. The wood can be milled on site with the portable mill or brought back to the stationary mill in Nassau. Species include walnut, cherry, maple, oak, pine, honey locust, sycamore, box elder maple, and catalpa. Live-edge slabs come up to 30 inches wide and are air-dried under cover for up to two years. The business describes its work as "lumber with a story you already know." The company serves homeowners and businesses across Albany, Rensselaer, and Columbia counties, including East Greenbush, Troy, Schenectady, Chatham, and Nassau. It suits a Capital Region landowner who wants a tree taken down and milled into lumber or slabs they can keep. From capitalsawmill.com, read 5 October 2026.
