About Wild Edge Woodcraft

Wild Edge Woodcraft is a sawmill and woodworking business on Berea Rd. in Rougemont, North Carolina. If you've got a tree down, or one coming down, they mill it instead of letting it "end up as firewood." They cut logs into slabs, mantels, and hardwood lumber, and kiln-dry it afterward so it won't twist or check later. This isn't a timber sale operation. They don't buy standing timber or run a harvest on your land. It's built for the single big tree, the storm-felled oak, the walnut taken out for a driveway. You text a photo of the log with something for scale to their phone, and they tell you if it's millable and what kind of yield to expect. They can pick the log up themselves or you can bring it to the farm. They work in walnut, white oak, pecan, hickory, maple, pine, and oak, and they run what they call the "widest bandsaw mill in NC," handling logs up to 8 feet across and 20 feet long. Milling, kiln drying, slab flattening, and stacking and stickering are all part of the job. They serve the Triangle area, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Pittsboro, and Wake Forest, and are also listed as working in Person County. The business started on the farm in 2012 and became Wild Edge Woodcraft in 2020. Visits are by appointment, but the phone is answered day and night. This one suits a landowner with a single notable tree down, not a tract to harvest, who wants that tree turned into something to keep rather than hauled off.
