About Bee Tree Hardwoods

Bee Tree Hardwoods is a sawmill in Swannanoa, North Carolina, just off Interstate 40 east of Asheville. They work with logs you already have on the ground, turning them "to lumber ready to install" through custom log sawing, air-drying, kiln-drying, and shop-milling. They handle Appalachian hardwoods and softwoods: walnut, cherry, red oak, white oak, poplar, ambrosia maple, soft maple, sycamore, ash, and white pine. For sawing, they ask that logs run a minimum of 16 inches diameter at the narrow end, no more than 30 inches, and between 8 feet 3 inches and 16 feet 6 inches long. They don't haul logs themselves but can point you toward someone who does. Once milled, lumber can go through their kiln and come out planed, straight-line ripped, or cut to profiles like tongue-and-groove or shiplap. They say they are "mostly native Appalachian logs from responsibly managed local sources." They don't publish lumber prices but will quote a job directly. Appointments run weekdays, preferably between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. They serve Asheville and the surrounding area, and are found in Buncombe County. This fits a landowner who has already had trees cut, or has logs sitting on their land, and wants someone to turn them into usable boards, beams, or custom pieces, rather than someone looking for a buyer to purchase standing timber off a tract.
