About Lewis & Hockenberry Inc

Lewis & Hockenberry Inc is a sawmill, timber buyer, and logging outfit based in Emporium, Pennsylvania, serving Cameron County. It logs its own land and also buys standing timber from private landowners, so the company that buys your logs is the same one that cuts them and turns them into finished lumber. The mill works in Ash, Cherry, Hard Maple, Red Oak, Soft Maple, and White Oak, producing kiln-dried dimension hardwood products, some of it dried in a vacuum kiln rather than a conventional one. Lewis & Hockenberry has been producing hardwood dimension products since 1946, and it still runs out of the same site on Rich Valley Road near Emporium, in the Allegheny Mountains of north central Pennsylvania. For landowners who want to talk about having land timbered or selling logs, the company directs you to speak with David Lewis. They describe their home ground as sitting "in the midst of some of the best hardwood timber anywhere," and one of the things that comes out of their vacuum kilns is solid "3 ¼ X 3 ¼ Red Oak squares." This suits a Cameron County landowner with a stand of the hardwoods above who wants to deal with a mill that logs and processes the wood itself, rather than a broker passing it along to someone else.
