Ritenour Lumber Co
About Ritenour Lumber Co
Ritenour Lumber Co is a sawmill and millwork shop in Melcroft, Pennsylvania, serving Fayette County. This isn't a place to sell standing timber. It's a mill that takes rough-cut hardwood and turns it into finished products. They work in Cherry, Wormy Oak, Sassafras, Hard and Soft Maple, Walnut, Poplar, Ash, Basswood, Pine, Alder, and Hickory. Their work covers rough-cut hardwood lumber, hardwood flooring, tongue-and-groove paneling, casing, baseboard, log siding, stair treads, mantles, custom mouldings, and bar and counter tops. They also run dry kiln services. They specialize in custom moulding and note "Quality products, fair prices and overall quality service" as how they do business, and they offer "free sample pieces of his products" so you can see what you're getting before committing. Delivery is available for a fee within a 75-mile radius. The business was founded in 1960 by William D. Ritenour and his wife, Ida, and has been run since 2002 by their son Paul, who built it toward the finished-product side of the trade. This fits a landowner who already has logs or rough lumber and wants it milled, dried, and worked into flooring, paneling, or trim, rather than someone looking to sell timber still standing in the woods.
