Berndtson Timber Management
About Berndtson Timber Management
Berndtson Timber Management works out of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, buying and harvesting timber and doing forestry consulting for landowners in Tioga County. Owner Greg Berndtson has a B.S. in Forest Management from the University of New Hampshire and more than 14 years of timber harvesting experience. The business has served north-central Pennsylvania since 2007. They take on both hardwood and softwood timber, and the work isn't just cutting and hauling. They'll write up forest and wildlife management plans, do crop and mast tree release, put in food plots, control competing vegetation and invasive species, clear land, and handle timber salvage after storms. On a harvest, they say they'll "time harvests to minimize rutting and residual damage" and grade and seed skid roads and landings once the job is done. They also say they look for "multiple payment options to ensure you get top dollar for your timber." The smallest project they'll take on is 5 acres, by their own stated minimum, though they say they can also handle jobs well over 500 acres. Initial consultations are free. This fits a landowner in Tioga County with a modest woodlot who wants one outfit to handle the whole job, from marking and cutting the timber to leaving the land looking cared for afterward, not just a buyer who shows up for the logs and leaves.
