About Walker Lumber Co Inc
Walker Lumber Co Inc is in Woodland, Pennsylvania. It is not a business that buys standing timber or walks your woodlot with you. It is a hardwood lumber concentration yard with modern kiln drying facilities, buying already-sawn hardwood lumber from a group of mills mostly in Central Pennsylvania, then drying, grading, and shipping it on. If you are a landowner with trees still standing, this is not who logs your property or makes you an offer on your timber. It is further down the chain. It buys from hardwood lumber mills, dries the lumber in its kilns, and ships truckload quantities to distribution, manufacturing, and industrial customers, "coast to coast" and overseas. It also does custom drying work for other people's lumber, including white oak barrel staves, where it runs "special schedules to ensure a premium stave product." Species handled include Pennsylvania hardwoods, cherry, and white oak staves. It also runs a retail and online store in Woodland with domestic kiln dried hardwood for pickup, plus exotic hardwood, CNC blanks, and project kits. It serves Clearfield County and sources mainly from Central Pennsylvania mills, with lumber shipped nationwide and internationally. The company traces back to 1897, when Chester A. Walker and his brother opened their first lumber operation in Centre County, later becoming today's Woodland facility. This one suits someone who already has sawn lumber, barrel stock, or a mill relationship and wants custom kiln drying or a wholesale buyer, not a landowner looking for someone to cut and sell their standing timber.
