Rustic Roots Warehouse is a sawmill and woodshop at 4362 Old York Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It has been milling lumber for more than a decade, and it accepts customer-owned logs as well as milling its own material. Its website says, "Bring us a log to mill." The standard sawmill takes logs 9 to 18 feet long and up to about 30 inches across. The Lucas Mill handles larger logs and cuts slabs up to six feet wide. Standard custom sawmilling is $1.50 to $2.50 per board foot, depending on the material and the cuts. Species include cedar, cherry, black walnut, poplar, maple, oak and pecan. Milled lumber can be air dried or kiln dried, with customer kiln drying at $1.50 per board foot and a 500-board-foot minimum. Lumber left waiting for pickup carries a $50 weekly storage fee. The shop also builds custom tables, countertops and mantels, and sells firewood. To start, call 803-806-0020 with the approximate species, length and diameter of your logs and what the wood is for. Each log is evaluated before milling. Size, species, condition and embedded metal can affect whether a log is accepted and what it costs. The shop is open 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, and closed Sunday. It serves Rock Hill and the greater Charlotte, SC area.
