About Kingwood Forestry Services, Inc.
Kingwood Forestry Services, Inc. calls itself "a full service forestry consulting firm with offices conveniently located in Arkadelphia and Monticello, Arkansas and Texarkana, Texas," staffed by "registered foresters, biologists, technicians and administrative personnel that are also licensed real estate brokers and sales agents and licensed appraisers." Its footer describes the firm as "the leading choice for timberland management and real estate marketing for recreational, timberland investments, and other rural properties in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma & Louisiana." The forest management page states that "Kingwood Forestry Services, Inc was founded in 1983 but we have roots and client relationships dating back to the 1960's," and a news item records the staff gathering in Little Rock to mark 40 years, with retired founders Jim Foster and Pete Prutzman speaking. The services it lists are real estate marketing, forest management, timber marketing, land appraisals, timber appraisals, hunting and recreational leases, and drone services; it says it "maintains a fleet of drones and has Commercial Drone Pilots at each office." On scale, the firm says it "manages several hundred thousand acres of timberland across Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana" for individuals, trusts, families, small companies, institutional investors and Timber Investment Management Organizations, and - relevant to any question of a size cutoff - that "the size of our management properties ranges from less than 20 acres to tens of thousands of acres," with "serving both small and large timberland owners" offered as a reason to choose it. On the brokerage side it says it sells "about a hundred tracts of all sizes each year" across the same four-state area, tracts that "range in size from less than 10 acres to several thousand acres," marketed by either a listed price or a sealed bid sale, and advertised with drone photography, direct mailings, multiple websites, newspapers and signs on the property. Under forest management it details timber inventories, management plans, silvicultural prescriptions, reforestation administration, budgeting, investment analysis, plantation and natural forest management, timber security using "high resolution cameras, and in-woods load tracking systems," road, fire lane and boundary maintenance, wildlife enhancement, and fiduciary property management carried out under a limited power of attorney. It says it is "well versed" in American Tree Farm, Forest Stewardship Council and Sustainable Forestry Initiative certification and will guide a property through each programme and audit. In timber marketing it stresses its independence: "We are not a logging contractor or timber buying company, so we have no conflict of interest when it comes to selling your timber." As described on kingwoodforestry.com, read 23 September 2026.
Can they handle a timber sale?
Selling standing timber properly takes three things. Here's what the state register credits this firm with.
Timber AppraisalAn estimate of what your standing timber is worth in dollars, based on how much there is, its quality, and current prices. When you are selling, settling an estate, dividing property, or need a value for taxes or insurance. What does this mean? → — not listed
works out what your standing timber is worth
Timber Cruise & Volume EstimateA field measurement of your standing trees — their species, sizes, and quality — that adds up to how much wood you actually have. Before you sell, so you go in knowing roughly what is out there rather than taking a buyer's word for it.What does this mean? → — not listed
measures and grades what's actually out there
Timber Sale & Contract AdministrationRunning the sale for you: advertising the timber, taking bids, writing the contract, and overseeing the logging so the agreed terms are met. When you want someone on your side handling the whole sale rather than dealing with buyers and loggers yourself. What does this mean? → — not listed
runs the sale and handles the contract
This firm isn't credited with all three, which doesn't make it a worse forester — plenty specialise in management planning, wildlife or wetlands. It does mean that if your goal is to sell timber, you'd likely need someone else for the part that's missing.
