About Meno Mill Works

Meno Mill Works is a wood mill in Cumberland, Virginia, about an hour's drive west of downtown Richmond. The mill describes itself as a family-owned and -operated wood milling company. Joshua Lewis bought it in August 2024 from MENO Life, and he hopes to run it as a nonprofit, with profit going back into that program. The mill is "committed to sustainable timber purchasing and processing," and it works mainly in white oak and pine. Its services include cutting to length, ripping, planning, re-sawing, edge-banding and wide belt sanding. It also makes custom dimensional lumber in a range of thicknesses and grades, and it guarantees each order meets construction industry standards for barns, decking and homes. A third line is utility access mats, sometimes called swamp mats, used for temporary roads. To start a job, you fill out a short form on the website describing your project, and the mill says it will be in touch within 24 hours. You can also call (571) 335-5830, Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm. Some of its mill work comes from members of the nearby MENO housing program, who bundle firewood for the local state park. This suits a landowner with white oak or pine who wants it milled into lumber locally. From menomill.com, read 17 October 2026.
