Hanneman Forest Products
About Hanneman Forest Products
Hanneman Forest Products is a family owned and operated business in Mechanicsville, Virginia. It makes bulk firewood for private homes and wholesale, colored and plain mulch, and woody biomass for paper mills and power plants. John E. Hanneman runs it with his wife Donna and their two sons. For a landowner, the useful part is what happens to the wood. Tree companies and clearing contractors bring logs and chipped trees to the Wood Yard at 9130 Barricade Lane in Mechanicsville. The yard sorts the wood. Pine goes out as logs for sawmills or as pulpwood for paper, and hardwood logs are split into firewood. The family says "We waste nothing." Getting that wood is their first concern: "Getting wood and woody debris is the number one priority." The work is centered on Hanover County, and they will deliver to most locations in the greater Richmond area. Firewood sales began in 1992, and the family has run the business since 1995. Mulch is sold from a yard in Mechanicsville and another in Rockville, with wholesale prices for landscapers and retail prices for the public. It suits a landowner near Hanover County or Richmond who has logs or cut wood to move and wants to deal with a family yard that has a long history in firewood and mulch.
