Heart Wood Tree Salvage
About Heart Wood Tree Salvage
Heart Wood Tree Salvage is a sawmill in Roanoke, Virginia, at 2141 Patterson Ave. SW. Since 2014 it has been "saving as many trees as possible" from fire pits and landfills, and it says it has saved over 10,000 trees from local landfills. It mills logs into live edge slabs and dimensional lumber, and it kiln dries the wood on site. The mill runs a Norwood LumberPro HD36 and a Lucas Mill, with a knuckle boom for picking up logs off job sites. It has an iDRY kiln and works with Slab Slayers on a custom slab flattener. The species list is wide, including red oak, white oak, walnut, cherry, maple, sycamore, locust, pecan, osage orange and spalted maple. Turning blanks, branches, stumps, tree cookies and sawdust are also sold. Landowners should note one thing first. The business does not buy logs. It will haul logs off a job site, but it does not buy them. Visits are by appointment only, so call or text (540) 655.8200 before you drive over. It suits someone who wants to put a felled tree to use, or who needs milled slabs or lumber, rather than someone looking to sell a stand of timber.
