About Chips Inc
Chips Inc is a family-owned lumber mill in Troy, Virginia. It is listed under saw mills in Albemarle County and serves Louisa County. The company was established in 1976 as a whole tree chip mill and became a sawmill in the early 1990s. The company owns its own timberland, where it grows loblolly pine for saw timber. It replants "every time we cut the timber" and manages the land as a sustainable operation. The mill produces dimensional lumber (2x4 and 2x6), timbers, radius edge decking, and rough green 1x4 and 5/4x4 from southern yellow pine, graded under Southern Inspection Pine Bureau rules. It states that the mill produces 50 million board feet a year. The trees that supply the mill are grown within a 75 mile radius of the mill. Chips Inc also sells chips to local paper mills. Its sawdust and shavings are dried and made into animal bedding pellets at its pellet mill, which produces over 20,000 tons a year. The mill is at 26 Zion Park Rd, Troy, VA, and the phone number is (434) 589-2424. It suits a landowner who wants to know a family sawmill that grows and replants its own loblolly pine and uses its by-products for chips and pellets. From chipsinc-va.com, read 17 October 2026.
