Harper Lumber & Building Supply
About Harper Lumber & Building Supply
Harper Lumber & Building Supply is a sawmill and building supply business in Buckhannon, West Virginia, serving Upshur County. It got its start in 1946, when Ralph H Harper founded a contract logging and sawmill business in Rock Cave, West Virginia. The lumber side worked in hardwood lumber and pallet stock, with hardwood shipped to furniture businesses and pallet stock delivered in the tri-state area. In the late 1960s the family added a retail side, and that side grew into today's building supply business, covering hardware, kitchens, baths, home design, windows and doors, siding, and outdoor living, with delivery to Buckhannon, Rock Cave, and the surrounding area. The business describes itself as stocking a "higher grade of lumber" and selling "premium products," while still keeping options to fit different budgets. It runs out of its Buckhannon location on Corhart Road, with a second location in Rock Cave. This suits a landowner near Buckhannon who wants a long-standing local mill and building supply outfit for lumber and hardware needs, more than one who is purely looking for someone to buy standing timber off the land.
