Red Oak Farms Lumber Co.

About Red Oak Farms Lumber Co.

Red Oak Farms Lumber Co. is a timber buyer, logging outfit, and sawmill operation based in Wheeling, West Virginia. They buy standing timber, and they also step in when gas well or right-of-way companies want access to your land, saying "call us first" before you deal with those crews directly. Their work covers standing timber buying, select cuttings, clearings, appraisals, lumber sales, and trucking with their own flatbed and boom trucks. Species they buy include cherry, red and white oak, ash, hard and soft maple, poplar, walnut, veneer woods, and blocking woods. They say their appraisal is free, and that timber cut and hauled one species at a time brings a better return, which is the approach they say they use. They serve Ohio County and describe working the West Virginia and Ohio area, with locations named in Wheeling WV, Quaker City OH, Bellmont County PA, and Waynesburg PA. They don't give a set minimum acreage, but their own words are plain on the point: "Whether your standing timber is on a large tract or a small one, we want to talk to you." They describe themselves as a locally owned and operated family firm that has been buying timber and selling wood in the area for 20 years. This fits a landowner, large tract or small, who wants one call to handle a timber sale or to get ahead of a gas well or right-of-way crew before they clear the land themselves.
