About Wisconsin Hardwoods LLC
Wisconsin Hardwoods LLC is a sawmill and log buyer in Mason, Wisconsin. They cut lumber and also buy logs straight from landowners, either picked up on the landing or hauled to their own yard. They buy Red Oak, Hard Maple, Soft Maple, Black Ash, White Ash, White Birch, Yellow Birch, Basswood, and Yellow Aspen. Logs get scaled using the Scribner Decimal C rule. They want standard lengths of 8, 10, or 12 feet with at least 8 inches of trim, and the small end inside the bark needs to be at least 10 inches across. Logs have to be solid, sound, straight, fresh cut, and free of any metal. Their grader holds NHLA certification, so the grading follows a recognized standard rather than just a guess at the landing. They call themselves a "precision mill known for top quality wood" and say they offer "prompt payment and competitive pricing" on the logs they buy. On the milling side, they cut lumber to order in 4/4, 5/4, or 6/4 grades, along with aspen, basswood, and hardwood cants and sorted-width pallet or industrial lumber cut to spec. They deliver truckloads of finished lumber throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the UP of Michigan, though their log buying is centered around Ashland County. This fits a landowner in or near Ashland County who has oak, maple, ash, birch, basswood, or aspen logs ready to sell, wants a buyer that scales by a known rule and grades to a certified standard, and would rather deal with a mill that explains its log specs up front than guess what's acceptable.
