Leer Wood Products

About Leer Wood Products

Leer Wood Products is a family-owned logging, timber-buying, and sawmill business in Westby, Wisconsin. They buy standing timber and handle the harvest themselves, working under Wisconsin MFL guidelines and Best Forestry Management Practice to "achieve the desired outcome for landowners." They take on timber harvesting, buying standing timber, and post-harvest work, bulldozing, grass seeding, and tree planting, so you're not left with a torn-up lot when the trucks leave. The species they work with include Ash, Aspen, Basswood, Cherry, Eastern White Pine, Hard Maple, Hickory, Poplar, Red Oak, Soft Maple, Walnut, and White Oak. A sale with them runs through a set process: a walk-through of your woods, a timber value estimate, a boundary survey, marking the trees and routes, a written contract, permits and MFL paperwork, the harvest itself, and then the cleanup and regeneration work after. They buy and harvest standing timber throughout Wisconsin and are listed as serving Vernon County. They hold FISTA and SFI certifications and describe themselves as a certified timber buyer and certified timber harvester, and say they are fully insured. Leer Wood Products has been logging Wisconsin land for nearly 50 years as a second-generation, family-owned company. This fits a Wisconsin landowner who wants one outfit to buy the timber, run the harvest, and leave the ground in shape afterward, rather than juggling separate contractors for each step.
