Walnut Timber Buyers
About Walnut Timber Buyers
Walnut Timber Buyers is a logging contractor and timber buyer based at 8727 Arenzville Rd. in Beardstown, Illinois. They buy standing timber and handle cut logs for farms and hunting land, working mostly with landowners, loggers, and importers. They take on projects where a property has 20 or more mature trees; that's the line they use instead of an acreage figure. The species they buy are walnut, white oak, red oak, hickory, ash, maple and black oak. Their process starts with marking property lines and picking out the trees worth the most, then felling, grading roads to gather the wood, cleaning up after themselves, and finally lining up a buyer and paying you before the logs leave your land. As they put it, "We begin by determining the trees on your land that are worth the most." They also offer a "free appraisal" before anything is cut. They work within about 300 miles of Beardstown, which reaches a large part of Illinois along with Central and Eastern Missouri. They describe themselves as licensed timber buyers and fully insured, and say they've been doing this work for 30 years. This fits a landowner in Illinois or Missouri sitting on a stand of marketable hardwoods, with at least 20 mature trees, who wants one outfit to handle the appraisal, the cutting, and the sale together rather than juggling separate companies.
