Midsouth Forestry Services, Inc is a family-owned forestry firm in Gordo, Alabama. Dale Lancaster founded it in 1985 to help private landowners manage and protect their timberland. It works across Alabama and Mississippi and lists Pickens County as a county it serves. The work covers the whole life of a stand of timber and, if you want, the land itself. The firm sells timber, buys timber and does logging, and handles timber stand improvement and timber and land appraisals. Site work includes mechanical and chemical site prep, herbicide application by ground or air, and tree planting by hand or machine. It also does prescribed burning, boundary line maintenance, firelines, roads and food plots, mowing and mulching, beaver control, insect and disease detection, and wildlife and pond management. On the real estate side, it buys and sells land, helps with appraisals, and administers hunting leases. Dale Lancaster is a registered forester in Mississippi and holds a brokerage license in Alabama and Mississippi. His son John is a registered forester in Alabama and Mississippi. The firm says it has nearly 40 years of forestry and real estate work behind it, and that nearly 200,000 acres have been in its care. Its stated rule is to "treat your land as if it were our own." This suits a landowner who wants one firm to handle the timber sale, the logging, and possibly the land sale later on. From midsouthforestryservices.com, read 17 October 2026.
