About Fly Timber Company Inc.
Fly Timber Company Inc. is a sawmill and timber buyer based in Grenada. It runs a hardwood sawmill alongside its log buying, so it can take trees from the stump through to finished lumber, railroad ties, industrial timbers, cants, flooring and paneling. It buys hardwood sawlogs, hardwood ply and veneer logs, pallet logs, stave logs, tie logs, and hardwood pulpwood, along with pine sawlogs, pine chip-n-saw, pine plywood, pine poles, pine pulpwood, and transmission poles. Species include all hardwoods, pine, and red cedar, with red oak, white oak, ash, poplar, hickory, cottonwood, cedar and cypress named by name. It holds a Master Logger certification. Ricky Fly founded the company in Coffeeville, MS with a logging crew, and the company now says it has over 40 years in the business. It serves Chicot, Crittenden, Cross, Desha, Lee, Mississippi, Monroe, Phillips, Poinsett, and St. Francis counties, and describes its lumber as "locally sourced within 200 miles of our sawmill." A sale or job starts with talking to their team about the timber or project, then placing the order, and the mill handles the cutting from there. The company also buys land outright "to harvest hardwood and pine sustainably and responsibly," and separately leases and sells land for hunting, outdoor use, and development. This fits a landowner with hardwood or pine timber in those Arkansas counties who wants a buyer that also mills the wood itself, rather than just brokering the sale.
