Hunter-Wasson Timber Services LLC works out of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. It's listed as a forestry consultant, and also does timber buying and logging work itself, so one outfit can advise you, market the wood, and run the equipment that cuts it. The services on offer cover the whole job: timber cruising, timber marking, paint boundary lines, management plans, financial analysis, firebreaks, and site prep and reforestation. They buy and sell hardwood sawlogs, hardwood pulpwood, ply and veneer logs, pallet logs, pine sawlogs, pine chip-n-saw, pine pulpwood, pine poles, pine plywood, tie logs, and transmission poles, working in both pine and all hardwoods. Their own description of how a job runs is simple: "We will plant, thin, select cut or final harvest per the owner's desire or recommendation from our state-registered forester." They run their own equipment too, including a feller-buncher, skidder, dozer, and knuckleboom loader. The company is Master Logger certified and works with a state-registered forester on staff. They've been at this since 1927, and say they're "Six generations of family forestry," having "planted more than a million trees" over that time. They serve a wide stretch of Arkansas counties, including Clark, Hot Spring, Garland, Saline, Pulaski, and dozens more across the state. This fits a landowner who wants one company to handle planning, marking, selling, and logging under one roof, and who likes knowing a forester is involved in the recommendation, not just a buyer with a chainsaw. Antoine Hardwoods Inc. is a sawmill and chip mill in Antoine, Arkansas. Charles Ledbetter founded it in 1996, and it has been running since, turning hardwood and pine logs into chips, cants, crossties and rough sawn lumber. Most of what comes off the saw goes to paper mills, flooring manufacturers and railroad contractors in the area. From the leftovers of that milling work, Antoine Hardwoods also bundles firewood and makes smoking chips, chunks and cedar grilling planks, sold "straight from the mill" with no middle man. The state registry lists it under Small Tracts and Sawmill services, and notes a Master Logger certification. It's listed as serving Pike County. If you're a landowner with hardwood or pine timber to sell, this is a place that processes wood all the way through, from standing timber to finished cooking wood and lumber products, rather than just brokering a sale. It suits someone in or near Pike County who wants to deal with an outfit that mills what it buys and sells the byproducts too, not just a timber buyer passing logs along to someone else. C. L. Taylor Timber is a logging and timber-buying business based in Kingston, Arkansas. It's family-owned, run by the Taylor family, and by the summer of 2024 it marks 51 years in the business. The company buys and harvests pine, red cedar, and all hardwoods, taking in sawlogs, pulpwood, chip-n-saw, ply and veneer logs, pallet logs, handle logs, tie logs, and shavings logs. A sale runs in steps: they come look at your trees and give you a summary of what's harvestable along with an appraisal, you get a written contract to review before anything is cut, then harvest follows an agreed plan, and they clean up afterward, keeping limbs out of waterways and seeding the trails. They also do dozer work, tree marking, management plans, and firewood. They work in Benton, Boone, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Madison, Marion, Newton, Pope, Sebastian, and Washington counties. The crew has completed the Arkansas Master Loggers Course and is listed as a Master Logger. Their equipment includes a dozer, farm tractor, feller-buncher, knuckleboom loader, and rubber-tired skidder. There's no stated minimum acreage, but the smallest job on record is the 40 acres of timber that founder Clifford Taylor bought to start the business. On their own harvesting page, they say the aim is "treating your property like it's our own." This fits a landowner in those northwest Arkansas counties with a modest hardwood or pine tract, who wants a written contract and a cleanup plan spelled out before any cutting starts. Canfor Southern Pine buys timber out of Strong, Arkansas, working with landowners who have pine and hardwood to sell. They take hardwood pulpwood and sawlogs, and pine pulpwood and sawlogs, in both species groups. They cover a wide stretch of south Arkansas, including Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Columbia, Dallas, Drew, Hempstead, Lafayette, Lincoln, Nevada, Ouachita, and Union counties. Their foresters and timber buyers are licensed, and they offer either a lump sum payment or a pay-as-cut option on a sale, so you can pick what suits your situation. They also give guidance on Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and American Tree Farm System certification for landowners who want it. On acreage, they say they typically work with landowners who have "20 to 40 acres or more," so if your land is smaller than that, it may be worth asking directly whether they'd still look at it. This fits a landowner in south Arkansas with a decent-sized pine or hardwood tract who wants a buyer backed by a large company's forestry program, rather than a small local outfit. Layton Sawmill LLC is a hardwood sawmill in Flippin, Arkansas. It started in 1993 south of Yellville and moved to its Flippin location in 1998. Besides sawing, it buys standing timber, saw logs, and gate logs, and it also buys land. For a landowner, they take on small tracts and work with hardwood species like ash, red oak, white oak, hickory, cherry, walnut, hard and soft maple, sweetgum, basswood, black/tupelo gum, pecan, and persimmon, plus pine. They cut logs into hardwood sawlogs, ply and veneer logs, pulpwood, stave logs, tie logs, and pine products including chip-n-saw, plywood, pulpwood, sawlogs, and transmission poles. They run a dozer. Their timber contract process offers "flexible payment options and processes to fit your goals and needs," and they describe themselves as a "family owned business" built on "long-lasting honesty and fairness." They buy timber and land across a long list of Arkansas counties including Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Fulton, Izard, Madison, Marion, Newton, Pope, Sharp, Stone, and Van Buren, and they say they're currently purchasing in northern and central Arkansas as well as southern Missouri. No stated minimum acreage, but their land listings have included parcels around 10 acres, so a small tract of that size looks workable. This one suits a landowner with a smaller hardwood or mixed pine-hardwood tract in northern Arkansas who wants to deal with a long-running family sawmill rather than a broker. Long Valley Timber LLC is a logging and timber buying company based in Huntsville, Arkansas, on Madison 7855. They cut and buy timber themselves, then run it through their own mill rather than selling to a third party. They take on selective logging, access road building, and brush and debris cleanup, and they buy cedar sawlogs, hardwood sawlogs, ply and veneer logs, stave logs, and tie logs. Species they work with include ash, cherry, hard maple, hickory, red cedar, red oak, soft maple, sweetgum, walnut, and white oak, with white oak stave logs and black walnut called out as premium. A sale starts with a walk of the property to look at species, grade, and volume, then a value estimate, a harvest plan you approve before any cutting starts, and payment once the logs are scaled at their mill. They say landowners stay "in Full Control" of what gets cut and what stays, and they describe their approach as "Land-First Logging," using selective harvest to protect forest health, water flow, and wildlife habitat. They cover Baxter, Benton, Carroll, Conway, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Marion, Newton, Pope, Searcy, Sebastian, Stone, Van Buren, and Washington counties in Arkansas, as well as Southwest Missouri and Northeast Oklahoma. They hold Master Logger certification and say they are licensed, insured, and certified through the Arkansas Timber Producers Association, with a BBB accreditation and A+ rating. They describe a 30+ year legacy of timber work. This fits a landowner who wants a direct-to-mill buyer handling both the buying and the cutting in one operation, across a fairly wide stretch of the Ozarks. Noway Pulpwood Inc. is a timber brokerage based in Gurdon, Arkansas, also operating out of Prescott. They act as a middle man between landowners and buyers, matching sellers with loggers rather than running the whole job themselves. They work in Clark County, with a stated focus on South Arkansas. They handle both pine and hardwood: pine pulpwood, chip-n-saw, sawlogs, poles, and plywood, plus hardwood pulpwood, sawlogs, ply/veneer logs, pallet logs, and tie logs. Species include pine, ash, red oak, white oak, sweetgum, cypress, black/tupelo gum, and hard and soft maple. They're listed as Master Loggers. For a sale, you can go pay-as-cut, paid as each tree comes off, or lump sum, paid upfront for the whole lot. They also handle timberland acquisition and run a wood yard, holding cut timber until the market is right to send it to the mill. They describe themselves as "family-operated" and say their aim is "to facilitate a fluid and streamlined timber sale process by aligning landowners with the most fitting buyers." The business traces back to 1998, started by three people from South Arkansas. This fits a landowner in or near Clark County who wants someone else to find the buyer and the logging crew, and who wants the choice between a lump sum payout or being paid as trees are cut. From nowaypulpwood.com, read 3 October 2026.

One Family Hardwood is a sawmill and log buyer based in Saint Joseph. They cut logs and buy standing timber, and their own listing marks them as open to small tracts. They buy Ash, Aspen, Basswood (Lynn), Cottonwood, Cherry, Coffee, Elm (Red or Grey), Hackberry, Hickory (or Pecan), Locust, Maple (Soft or Hard Maple), Red Oak, Sycamore, Walnut, and White Oak, along with Red Cedar, which they sell on as cedar posts and cedar sawlogs. They purchase logs year round. Trees and logs are measured by diameter at the small end inside the bark and priced on the Doyle scale, which they note is the standard for North American hardwoods, warning that buyers quoting a bigger number on the International scale may still pay less per board foot. One plain rule they're firm on: "NO YARD TREES," meaning anything that's been mowed around is off the table. Their pitch to a landowner is straightforward, that "Standing Timber and Cut Logs are the most profitable to you (the landowner) when sold directly to a sawmill," since it cuts out the middlemen. They are listed as serving a long run of counties across Arkansas, among them Pulaski, Washington, Craighead, Garland, and many others on their list. This fits a landowner with marketable hardwood or cedar on a small or mid-size tract who wants to sell straight to the mill that will cut the logs, and who wants the measuring and scale explained up front rather than guessed at. From 1fhw.net, read 3 October 2026.

Ozark Timber is a sawmill based in St Joe, Arkansas, also known as Layton's Ozark Timber Sawmill and Fencing, running since 1967. If you've got standing timber on your land, this is a mill that takes in logs and turns them into lumber and fence products, not a company that walks your property to mark trees ahead of a sale. The mill works with pine, cherry, red cedar, red oak, and white oak. It handles cedar posts, pine poles, pine sawlogs, pine pulpwood, hardwood sawlogs, hardwood pulpwood, stave logs, and tie logs. Its own fence line, Copperwood, is cut from locally harvested Southern Yellow Pine and "processed and treated with copper naphthenate right here on our yard," then sold on through a network of fence company dealers rather than straight to a landowner. The 15 year limited warranty covers installed Copperwood fencing, not timber purchased off a tract. Ozark Timber works as a timber buyer and sawmill out of St Joe, serving Boone, Carroll, Franklin, Johnson, Marion, Newton, Pope, Searcy, Stone, Van Buren, and White counties. This suits a landowner near St Joe who wants a long-running local mill that will take pine or hardwood logs off a property, more than someone looking for a company to walk the land and set up the sale itself. Weyerhaeuser Company buys timber out of Mountain Pine, Arkansas, and it is listed under timber buyers for landowners in that part of the state. It covers Columbia, Hempstead, Howard, Little River, Miller, Nevada, Pike, Polk, Sevier, and Union counties. The products side covers both hardwood and pine, including hardwood ply and veneer logs, hardwood pulpwood, hardwood sawlogs, pallet logs, pine chip-n-saw, pine plywood, pine poles, pine pulpwood, pine sawlogs, tie logs, and transmission poles. Species bought are all hardwoods and pine, and on the company's own pages the species named are Southern Yellow Pine and Douglas-Fir. Equipment on hand includes a chipper, delimber, dozer, feller-buncher, knuckleboom loader, and rubber tired skidder, which points to a company that runs its own logging crews rather than just brokering a sale. This is a large, long-running operation. Weyerhaeuser says it has been "building and enhancing a reputation for responsible corporate citizenship" for more than a hundred years, and describes its own goal as being "the world's premier timber, land, and forest products company." It owns or manages millions of acres across the U.S. and Canada, so a timber sale in Arkansas is one piece of a much bigger operation. This fits a landowner near Mountain Pine with pine or hardwood to sell who wants a buyer with its own equipment and crews on hand, not a smaller local outfit working one job at a time. Independent Stave Co. buys timber in Arkansas, working out of a cooperage business that has been going since 1912. They are after white oak and walnut, mainly stave logs, hardwood sawlogs, and ply or veneer logs, and they have Master Logger credentials. They cover a long list of Arkansas counties, including Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cleburne, Pulaski, Saline, Sebastian, White, and Yell, among many others across the state. Their log procurement side works with local loggers to harvest wood sustainably, and their forestry and land management arm builds land management plans for the ground they handle, covering timber harvest, invasive plant control, and thinning to improve forest health. They've said plainly that "when we own the land, there is complete control over the process, both from a quality and sustainability standpoint." There's no stated minimum acreage for buying logs from a landowner's property. The only acreage figure they show is a land purchase of 8,016 forested acres near Somerset, Kentucky, so that gives a sense of the scale they're used to working at when they own ground outright, though that's a land purchase, not a stated floor for a log sale. This fits a landowner with a serious stand of white oak or walnut who wants a buyer tied to a long-running mill operation, rather than someone with a small mixed woodlot looking for a quick, informal sale. Arkansas Pulpwood Co is a forestry company in Camden, Arkansas. They buy timber, run the logging themselves, and also do consulting work, including appraisals, for landowners in Ouachita County. The work they take on covers timber harvesting, timber merchandising, timberland appraisal, and timber and timberland management. On a harvest, they say they handle "every stage of the operation, from evaluating the timber stand and coordinating logging crews to overseeing equipment, transportation logistics, and mill delivery." For merchandising, they work directly with mills and buyers to market timber, negotiate pricing, and manage contracts. For appraisal work, they have an in-house registered timber and timberland appraiser, useful if you need a valuation for a sale, an estate, or just to know what you have. There's no stated minimum acreage for a timber job. The smallest property shown on their site is a 6.11 acre parcel, the Carrie Newton tract, but that one is listed as a land lease in Union County, not a timber sale, so it doesn't tell you their floor for timber work. The company was founded by John Dawson Jr. in 1973 and has stayed family-owned since, now with the second generation leading and a third generation involved. This fits a landowner in Ouachita County who wants one company to handle buying, logging, and appraisal together, rather than hiring each piece separately. From arkpulpwood.com, read 3 October 2026.
