About Georgia-Pacific WFS LLC-Gurdon
Georgia-Pacific WFS LLC-Gurdon is a sawmill and wood fiber buyer based in Gurdon, Arkansas. It takes in both hardwood pulpwood and pine pulpwood, and the species list it buys runs long: all hardwoods, ash, basswood, black/tupelo gum, cherry, cottonwood, hard maple, hickory, paulownia, pecan, persimmon, pine, red oak, soft maple, sweetgum, walnut, and white oak. It's set up to handle small tracts, and its listed equipment gives a sense of how it works a job: chipper, delimber, dozer, farm tractor, feller-buncher, knuckleboom loader, and rubber tired skidder. That's the gear for cutting, skidding, and processing wood, not just a mill gate scale. It serves a wide stretch of Arkansas, with counties served including Clark (where Gurdon sits), Ashley, Baxter, Benton, Boone, Bradley, Calhoun, Carroll, Chicot, Columbia, Conway, Craighead, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Desha, Drew, Faulkner, Franklin, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Greene, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lee, Lincoln, Little River, Logan, Lonoke, Madison, Marion, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Montgomery, Nevada, Newton, Ouachita, Perry, Phillips, Pike, Poinsett, Polk, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Randolph, Saline, Scott, Searcy, Sebastian, Sevier, Sharp, St. Francis, Stone, Union, Van Buren, Washington, White, Woodruff, and Yell. The parent company traces back to 1927, "Founded in Augusta, Georgia, as Georgia Hardwood Lumber Company, a hardwood lumber wholesaler." This fits a landowner who wants a mill-connected buyer able to take a small tract and a wide mix of hardwood and pine species, rather than someone hunting for a boutique forestry consultant.
