About Resolute Forest Products

The Southern Group of State Foresters' Primary Forest Products Network register lists this as a softwood sawmill at 40 SW 10th Street in Cross City, in Dixie County. The Resolute Forest Products web address on file now answers as Domtar, and the company's own history page explains why. Abitibi-Consolidated merged with Bowater in 2007 to become AbitibiBowater, which changed its name to Resolute Forest Products in 2011; Domtar was acquired by Paper Excellence Group in 2021; two years later Paper Excellence's owner, Jackson Wijaya, acquired Resolute Forest Products, bringing the companies under one umbrella; and in October 2024 Paper Excellence rebranded under the Domtar name, integrating the operations of Domtar Corporation, Resolute Forest Products and the legacy Paper Excellence business. The lineage the company traces for itself runs back further still — to the William Price Company of 1820, exporting Quebec lumber to Great Britain, and to Henry Potter Burt's Burt, Boulton Holding Company of 1848, which became Dominion Tar and Chemical and then Domtar. None of the pages read names Cross City, Dixie County or any Florida operation. At company level Domtar calls itself a North American manufacturer of forest products, with roughly 60 locations across North America, more than 13,000 employees worldwide and $3.7 million in community giving across North America in 2025. Its businesses are paper, packaging, pulp and tissue and wood products, the wood products side covering lumber, remanufactured wood products, engineered wood products and woodland operations. It states a vision of being the global leader in the forest products sector, and gives its United States corporate address as 234 Kingsley Park Drive, Fort Mill, South Carolina. As described on domtar.com, read 23 September 2026.
