Mills
Sawmills and pulp mills purchase harvested timber. Some mills have in-house timber buying divisions, letting landowners sell direct — cutting out the middleman.

Quick answer
There are 117 mills listed in Florida across 67 counties. Listings come from the Florida Forest Service forest products and services directory, covering consulting foresters and forest products buyers, together with the Forest Products Network mill directory and each one shows the counties it covers and the species it handles. TimberClear has not vetted, verified or endorsed any of them.
This Graceville entry is the timber-buying side of Rex Lumber. The Florida Forest Service vendor register lists it as a forest products buyer working in 23 Florida counties, under the subcategories upland timber and wetland timber. Rex Lumber's own site does not use the name Rex Lumber Co. for a separate buying company; it puts procurement under Woodlands Timber, which the site lists among the operations based at Graceville alongside the mill, the corporate office and Rex Transportation. The Woodlands Timber page names a Graceville procurement manager, a senior procurement forester and a procurement forester, and the two cell numbers it publishes for the first two of those match the phone numbers carried in this listing; the mailing address here, P.O. Box 7, is the same box the site gives for the Graceville mill. The company describes itself as a fourth-generation, family-owned lumber manufacturer established in the 1920s - its history page says W. D. McRae founded Rex Lumber Company in Graceville in 1926 - operating four mills in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama, with the Graceville site bought back by the family at a bankruptcy auction in 2001 and running again from March 2003. The site states that the McRae family also owns Apalachee Pole Company, Woodlands Timber, Rex Transportation and over 16,000 acres of timber land in Florida, Alabama and Georgia, and that the mills turn harvested timber into southern yellow pine lumber. Nothing on the site sets out a minimum tract size, a payment basis or the terms on which timber is bought, so a landowner would have to ask. As described on rex-lumber.com, read 23 September 2026.
Wood Mulch Products, Inc. is a mulch and animal bedding maker in Lakeland, Florida. It was founded in 1991 to manufacture and distribute animal litter and soil amendment materials. It runs an 18 acre manufacturing facility in Lakeland, between Orlando and Tampa, and produces more than 20 different products. Its shavings are made from "100% virgin pine logs." The logs are debarked, dried and screened at the shaving mills, then tested and bagged. The business does not accept by-products from wood processing facilities. Its line includes premium mulch, playground mulch, organic mulch, pine bark and horse bedding. The horse bedding is kiln dried, triple screened and 100% pine. Products ship throughout the state of Florida, and the business supplies theme parks, public schools, parks, municipalities and landscape contractors. Its work is making mulch and bedding, not buying standing timber, logging or forestry, so it suits a landowner who wants a manufacturer for mulch or bedding rather than a timber sale. Stall Master Company, LLC makes all-natural 100 per cent pine horse bedding at 18430 County Line Road in Spring Hill. Its about page dates the business to 2004 - 'Since 2004, Stall Master has been committed to producing premium pine bedding products for performance horses' - and says the goal from the beginning was to invest in the best equipment, employ the best processes and deliver the highest-quality bedding available. It describes a manufacturing facility using advanced drying and processing technology that lets the company control moisture and temperature precisely through production, so the bedding comes out clean, comfortable and low in dust. The production sequence it publishes runs from sustainable sourcing through precision shaving equipment, energy-efficient drying and advanced separation, triple screening and a quality check, with product tested and batch tracked. Four products are listed: 100 per cent pine shavings in a large flake that expands to 10 cubic feet, a medium blend and a micro flake that each expand to 8 cubic feet, and 100 per cent pine pellets in a 40-pound bag described as compostable, low dust and easy to clean. The site states repeatedly that Stall Master is a wholesale supplier that distributes through its listed dealers rather than selling direct, and asks buyers whose area is not yet covered to have their local feed store carry the line. Its header describes the company as trusted by trainers, breeders and riding facilities across the southeast, and Michael McHugh signs the about page as president. As described on stallmaster.com, read 23 September 2026.
Smurfit Westrock is the company the old westrock.com address now redirects to, and it describes itself as a global sustainable paper and packaging manufacturer. Across the company it reports paper and board capacity of roughly 23 million tons a year, 220 billion square feet of corrugated packaging made in 2025, and a network it puts at 62 paper mills and 63 recycling plants taking in about 13 to 14 million tons of recovered fibre annually. On virgin fibre it says it sources from small private landowners as well as from its own FSC and/or PEFC certified forests, that every forest it sources from is chain-of-custody certified, and that its paper mill system is 100% chain-of-custody certified. The corporate pages read for this listing are company-wide: none of them names the Maxville site, so none of the above should be read as a statement about this particular operation. As described on smurfitwestrock.com, read 22 September 2026.
Spanish Trail Lumber describes itself as a full scale softwood mill, located on Old Spanish Trail at Marianna in Jackson County, and says the Florida panhandle position gives it an advantage in shipping anywhere in the south and central United States. The company states a capacity to manufacture over 135 million board feet a year of Southern Yellow Pine and specializes in PET stud lengths of 92 5/8, 104 5/8 and 116 5/8 inches in both 2x4 and 2x6, with custom PET lengths available in truck load quantities. It produces SPIB #2 Prime, #1, #2, #3 and #4 finished lumber in 6 foot through 12 foot lengths, dries all of it in one of two double track 81 foot kilns to below 19 percent moisture content, and offers both flatbed trucking and direct rail shipments from the mill. Packs are bagged in 3.5 ounce polypropylene, with 2x4 in 208 piece packs and 2x6 in 128 or 64 piece half packs. The site publishes nothing about buying logs or standing timber. West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. describes itself as a diversified global wood products company and one of the world's largest producers of renewable wood building products, with more than 50 facilities across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe and around 10,000 employees; its own count is 32 lumber mills, 15 OSB mills, nine engineered wood mills and two pulp and paper mills, making lumber, OSB, plywood, LVL, MDF, particleboard and pulp. The company dates itself to 1955, when the Ketcham brothers bought a planing mill in Quesnel, British Columbia - that is the parent company's founding, not this Florida site's. Its history page records how it reached the South: 13 mills acquired in 2007 across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas, then in 2017 seven mills in Florida and Georgia from Gilman Building Products, operations that employed about 900 people with a combined annual capacity of 700 million board feet of southern yellow pine lumber. The corporate pages read for this listing do not name the McDavid operation or say what it takes in or produces, so nothing here should be read as West Fraser's own account of this particular mill, as described on westfraser.com, read 22 September 2026.
Nature's Source Products describes itself as a supplier of kiln dried firewood products and services in North Florida, packaging under the Lite My Fire and Suwannee River brands from its yard on NW Guerdon Street in Lake City, in Columbia County. The company says its firewood is made from clean, high quality mixed hardwood logs that are fast starting and long burning, suited to indoor and outdoor fireplaces, wood fire grilling, smoking and gourmet cooking. It describes a process that begins with top quality, professionally harvested timber processed on its own equipment, then seasoning the split wood, then kiln drying to take out just enough moisture, a step it says meets heat treating requirements for the entire United States so the product is certified to ship anywhere in the continental states. Finished wood is bagged and sold to major retail stores, convenience store chains and campgrounds, and directly from the Lake City location. As described on naturessourceproducts.com, read 22 September 2026.
Southern Fuelwood, Inc. manufactures cooking and heating wood products from southern hardwoods at an offices-and-production plant at 28826 West Newberry Road (Route 26) in Newberry, about 14 miles west of Gainesville off I-75 and 2.5 miles west of the Route 26 and Route 41 intersection. The about page describes a company with more than 30 years of experience producing wood products in the volumes the commercial trade requires, and states plainly that Southern Fuelwood manufactures everything it sells rather than reselling, and that it does not make products from diseased wood taken from tree surgeons, using carefully selected healthy trees instead. The product range listed on the site covers kiln-dried Florida firewood, fatwood and kindling, gourmet barbecue cooking wood, restaurant-grade cooking woods, natural wood charcoal and anthracite coal, and shavings, sawdust and a shavings-and-sawdust mix. Kilns are the heart of the operation: the site says ten high-efficiency kilns are in place and operating, more than any other facility in the southeast, with a combined capacity of 101,659 cubic feet, and that Southern Fuelwood was the first company in Florida certified by the Florida Department of Agriculture to heat treat wood to U.S.D.A. (5B-65) standards. The plant sits on 200 acres of company-owned land and includes a 5,896 sq ft office building with state-certified truck scales, three warehouse buildings totalling 50,704 sq ft, two covered loading docks and two portable loading platforms, two packaging facilities of 16,265 sq ft, a 14,877 sq ft pallet production plant, a wood shavings plant with a finished shavings barn, and a 12,475 sq ft maintenance shop for trucks and equipment. Patrick M. Post is named as owner and Keith Oliver handles sales; the office is open 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. As described on southernfuelwood.com, read 23 September 2026.
Boyett Timber, Inc. is a mulch manufacturer in Webster, Florida. It makes bulk mulch for homeowners, landscape contractors, HOAs, schools, parks and municipalities, and it offers pickup and delivery throughout Central Florida. Hernando County is among the counties it serves. The Boyett family has been part of Central Florida's timber industry for nearly 100 years. The company has since moved on: it has "shifted its focus exclusively to manufacturing premium mulch products" and no longer harvests timber itself. It does not buy standing timber or run timber sales, so a landowner looking to sell a stand of trees will need to look elsewhere. The mulch is made from 100% virgin pine and from hardwood trees. The range includes IPEMA Certified Engineered Wood Fiber playground mulch, plus pine blend, red, cocoa, black and hardwood mulch. The business also sells clean, untreated ground sawmill wood in large bulk quantities to manufacturers and other industrial buyers. It offers a facility tour, a mulch consultation and a landscape design consult at its Webster location. Boyett Timber suits a landowner who wants bulk mulch or playground material made from pine or hardwood, not someone who wants to sell timber. From boyetttimbermulch.com, read 18 October 2026.
Gaston Mulch & Soil sells bulk mulch, chips, topsoil and compost from 9333 NW 13th Street in Gainesville, describing itself as serving north central Florida. Its about page tells the business as one link in a family chain: Gaston's Tree Service started in north central Florida in the summer of 1972, and after a 1985 state mandate that vegetation could no longer be dumped into landfills, Gaston's Tree Debris Recycling began operations, starting the process of permitting what the page calls the first tree, yard and land clearing debris recycling centre in the state of Florida. The mulch, chips and soil that come out of that collected tree debris are what Gaston Mulch & Soil sells, which the page describes as completing a full circle and returning the recycled debris to the earth as valuable landscape materials. The company says it is still family-owned and operated. Featured products include red hardwood mulch, dyed pine mulch, playground chips and garden soil or topsoil, priced by the cubic yard with online ordering; mulch and chips are described as IPEMA certified playground safe, to be installed in accordance with the standards IPEMA publishes. Beyond landscape and garden customers, the firm says it supplies a number of landscape wholesalers and bagged potting mix and mulch providers, and that a bag of topsoil or mulch bought recently at a big box store, hardware store or nursery may well contain its material. Bulk pickup of any amount is offered at the facilities, with delivery options throughout the state, and the site invites calls for bulk orders and shipping from outside Gainesville, noting that whether the order is one yard or 500 it can be handled. A site banner adds that, until further notice, only one product is allowed per delivery. As described on gastonmulch.com, read 23 September 2026.
Landscape Products is the web presence of Earthwise Garden Products, Inc., whose manufacturing facility sits at 1208 NW 10th Ave in Okeechobee and, the contact page says, offers mulch and soil; the company also runs two retail yards, Mulch N More in Palm City and Mulch & More of Martin County in Stuart. The about page describes a family owned and operated company that has been producing landscape supplies and covering Florida since 1984, starting by packaging 200 to 500 bags a week by hand and buying what it calls the first bagging machine in the south within six months. It says it broadened the standards on alternative mulches in 1992 with the introduction of the Earthwise brand, pitched as a clean alternative to mulch made from recycled pressure-treated wood, produced its first colored red mulch in 1997 and put it into big-box stores in January 1998, and later added gold, black and brown. Today it manufactures, packages and ships more than 20 different landscaping ground covers, with featured products including Colorwise red and brown mulch, pine bark nuggets, pine straw bales and eucalyptus mulch, sold to garden centers, landscape contractors, homeowner associations and municipalities and through distributors around the state. Its services page lists timber purchasing, logs only and priced per ton; land clearing, which it says is available on 100 acres or more; mulch and soil installation laid by hand rather than blown in, at one to six inches; sod installation delivered direct from the farm; private labeling; and coast-to-coast shipping on the company's own fleet, from bags up to 100-yard bulk orders. As described on landscapeproductsfl.com, read 23 September 2026.
The Cross City yard is one of four plants The Mulch & Soil Company says it runs in Florida, but the company's site names none of the four and says nothing about this Dixie County operation specifically - the only address and office line it publishes belong to the Fort Myers head office. What the site does set out is the shape of the business behind the gate. It was assembled in June 2017, when Blue Wolf Capital merged Suwannee River Mulch - spun out of the family-owned Suwannee Lumber Company two years earlier - with Forestry Resources, a pioneer of Florida exotic pest plant removal and ecological restoration. CenterGate Capital bought the whole company in May 2021. It manufactures lawn and garden mulch and soil under its own brands and hauls on a private trucking fleet. One thing a landowner should know before calling: nowhere on its pages does this company describe buying standing timber. The wood it accounts for is melaleuca and other trees cleared on restoration and construction sites, material that would otherwise be piled and burned. (source: themulchsoilco.com, read 22 September 2026)
What The Mulch & Soil Company publishes about its DeLand plant is, precisely, nothing: the site names no locations at all, and the single address and phone on its pages are the Fort Myers head office. The Volusia County yard has to be read through the parent instead. The brands are older than the company - Jungle Growth dates to 1976 and the melaleuca-based FloriMulch to 1983, when Forestry Resources found a use for the invasive Australian tree it was clearing out of Florida wetlands - while the company carrying them was only created in June 2017, by a Blue Wolf Capital merger of Suwannee River Mulch and Forestry Resources. K & B Landscape Supplies was bought in June 2018; CenterGate Capital took ownership in May 2021. Four Florida plants, a private trucking fleet, lawn and garden mulch and soil. For anyone with trees to sell, note that the company describes no timber buying of any kind - its stated feedstock is cleared melaleuca and trees recycled off project sites. (source: themulchsoilco.com, read 22 September 2026)
Fort Myers is the one location the company's own site actually identifies: 4353 Michigan Link, with 239-334-7343 as the office line, printed at the foot of every page - the head office of The Mulch & Soil Company, and the address the register holds for this record. The company was created in June 2017 when Blue Wolf Capital merged Suwannee River Mulch with Forestry Resources, the firm that in 1983 turned melaleuca cleared from Florida wetlands into landscape mulch and whose FloriMulch brand the company still manufactures, and CenterGate Capital bought it in May 2021. From here it runs four Florida plants, a private trucking fleet and a lawn and garden line of mulch and soil brands, and frames the whole operation around wetland restoration, mitigation and exotic pest plant removal. A landowner should read the raw-material story carefully: the company describes recycling trees that would otherwise be piled and burned on project sites, and nowhere describes buying standing timber. (source: themulchsoilco.com, read 22 September 2026)
The Webster plant sits in Sumter County; the company's site, which publishes only its Fort Myers head office, says nothing whatever about this location - not its address, its hours, nor what is made here. The story it does tell is about raw material, and it matters to anyone thinking of this record as a timber buyer. Melaleuca was planted by federal foresters in the 1920s to dry out the Everglades, escaped, and destroyed hundreds of thousands of acres of native plant communities; in 1983 Forestry Resources found a use for the cleared trees as landscape mulch, and that product is still sold as FloriMulch. The company says it continues to recycle trees that would otherwise be piled and burned on project sites. It describes no purchase of standing timber anywhere. The Mulch & Soil Company itself dates to a June 2017 merger under Blue Wolf Capital, has been owned by CenterGate Capital since May 2021, and says it operates four Florida plants with its own trucking fleet. USA Mulch manufactures and installs premium mulch throughout the state of Florida from what it calls a state of the art manufacturing facility in Fort Myers, on Gator Road in Lee County. The company describes handling the whole job in house, listing harvesting, grinding, bagging, coloring and installation as its own steps, and says it has been in business for over 30 years. Its wholesale mulch is sold bagged and in bulk in cypress, pine, pine bark nuggets, pine bark mini nuggets, red, gold, premium brown and playground grades. Installation is described as work for commercial properties, and the company publishes application guidance of roughly four inches for new mulch and three inches when remulching, along with a calculator for working out quantities. Coverage is described as Southwest Florida and locations across the state, with no counties named, and the site says nothing about buying standing timber or logs from landowners. As described on usamulchllc.com, read 23 September 2026.
An oriented strand board mill, by the Southern Group of State Foresters' Primary Forest Products Network register, at 12995 NE State Road 65 in Hosford, buying softwood, with Liberty County as its home county. The same address carries a second Georgia-Pacific entry in Florida's records — a Wood & Fiber Supply buying office listed with the Florida Forest Service — so the procurement desk and the mill share a road. Georgia-Pacific's own website does not describe either: gp.com has no Hosford page, and its locations section is only a state-by-state selector that names Florida without naming a facility in it. The site does describe the company. Georgia-Pacific says it was founded in 1927 in Augusta, Georgia, as the Georgia Hardwood Lumber Company, a hardwood lumber wholesaler running five sawmills in the South, became Georgia-Pacific Corporation in 1956, moved its headquarters to Atlanta in 1982, and was acquired by Koch in 2005 to become a privately held, wholly owned subsidiary; it now states more than 30,000 employees, more than 150 locations worldwide and $15 billion invested into its operations since 2014. Building products is one of its seven stated businesses, and the strand board side shows up twice in the company's own timeline: it says it completed the purchase of oriented strand board facilities from Grant Forest Products in 2010, and opened a new OSB facility in Clarendon County, South Carolina, in 2013 with 130 local jobs. On stewardship it says it works to maximise recycling, reduce energy use and set the standard in sustainable forestry. No log specifications, delivery terms or buying contact for Hosford appear anywhere on the pages read. As described on gp.com, read 23 September 2026.
This is the Enviva wood pellet plant at 2500 Green Circle Parkway in Cottondale, in Jackson County. The website on file is Enviva's corporate site, and the pages read carry nothing specific to the Cottondale plant — no capacity, no local wood specifications, no plant contact and no staff. What the company does publish about the wood-buying and manufacturing side of its business is this: it mills, dries and pelletises wood-based biomass in a specialty press, the high-pressure extrusion causing the wood's own lignin to form the sheath that holds each pellet together, with the finished product 100 percent plant matter and no chemicals or GMOs used in the process. It says its product uses wood fibre predominantly from the U.S. Southeast, and that it has a deep understanding of the material it uses including type (hardwood or softwood), origin and quality specifications, testing in its own quality labs for bulk density, moisture content, durability, ash and particle-size distribution and re-tuning for the natural seasonal variability of feedstock. On where the wood comes from, it states a Responsible Sourcing Policy under which it strives not to source from old growth forests, protected forests, or forests harvested for land use conversion, and says it aims to source only from forests that will remain forests. The corporate pages date the founding of Enviva itself to 2004; that is the company, not this plant, and nothing read says when Cottondale was built or what it runs at. Landowners and loggers selling into this mill should call the plant directly rather than work from the corporate site. (source: envivabiomass.com, read 22 September 2026)
Robbins Manufacturing's own contact pages list this SR 471 address at Tarrytown as one of its Florida locations, alongside the Tampa home office, the Webster PO box and a Lake City yard. Robbins Manufacturing Company was founded in Tampa in 1938 by Bruce Robbins, Sr. as a sawmill and lumber supply business, began treating wood with CCA preservatives in 1948, and is still family-owned. It sells Wolmanized CCA Heavy Duty wood - marine pilings, utility poles, barn poles, fence posts and other heavy-duty pressure-treated lumber - through independent, marine and agricultural resellers in Florida and the southeastern United States, and says it produces most of the fence posts, marine pilings and utility poles it distributes. Company-wide it puts annual output at over one million cubic feet of poles and pilings plus more than one million fence posts, a figure it does not break down by location. The 1938 date and the output figure belong to the company, not to this yard - the site says nothing about what is produced at this address in particular. As described on robbinsmanufacturing.com, read 22 September 2026.

Florida Fence Posts Co., Inc. is a family-owned mill in Ona, Florida, and it has been in business since 1946. The company makes its own fence posts from southern yellow pine, and each post is pressure-treated with Wolmanized CCA. The posts are made to meet AWPA standards for agricultural use, and they come with a "25-year limited warranty." The company also sells wire fencing, gates and mulch, and it offers installation services. It serves the Central Florida area, and Hardee County is among the counties it covers. Customers can pay in cash, by check, or by Visa, Mastercard or Discover. This suits a landowner who needs fence posts, wire, gates or installation for farm and ranch fencing. It does not buy timber standing on the land, so a landowner looking to sell timber should look elsewhere. From flfencepost.com, read 18 October 2026.
RYAM lists Fernandina as one of its four plants, alongside Jesup in Georgia, Tartas in France and Temiscaming in Quebec, and tracks Fernandina as one of the four sites covered by its corporate environmental management system. The company describes itself as an innovation engine of nearly a century's standing that transforms renewable wood into high purity cellulose, high-yield pulp, paperboard and biomaterials - its cellulose specialties going into construction and coatings, electronics, filtration and automotive, food, pharmaceuticals and personal care, hygiene, bioplastics and textiles, alongside bioenergy, biofuel, lignosulfonates and tall oil. On where the wood comes from, RYAM says it sources from 'working forests', forestland managed to supply a steady renewable supply of wood while providing wildlife habitat and recreation, and argues that its plants create the market that keeps that land in forest rather than converted to development. It states a goal of cutting its carbon footprint 40% by the end of this decade. Corporate headquarters is in Jacksonville; the pages read do not describe the Fernandina plant's products, intake or capacity, as described on ryam.com, read 22 September 2026.
The Southern Group of State Foresters' Primary Forest Products Network register lists this as a pulp and paper mill at 160 County Road 216 in Palatka, taking softwood, with Putnam County as its home county. What the company publishes about itself is corporate rather than local: gp.com carries no page for the Palatka mill, and its locations page offers only a state-by-state selector — Florida is on the list, but the site names no facility inside it. What the site does say is about the owner. Georgia-Pacific dates itself to 1927, when it was founded in Augusta, Georgia, as the Georgia Hardwood Lumber Company, a hardwood lumber wholesaler operating five sawmills in the South; it took the Georgia-Pacific Corporation name in 1956 and moved its headquarters from Portland, Oregon, to Atlanta in 1982. Koch acquired the company in 2005, and the site states plainly that Georgia-Pacific is a Koch, Inc. company, privately held and wholly owned. It counts more than 30,000 employees, more than 150 locations worldwide, locations in nearly 30 states and $15 billion invested into its operations since 2014, and it groups its business into building products, cellulose, consumer products, GP PRO, packaging, pine solutions and recycling — the cellulose line being the one a pulp mill such as this sits within. On stewardship the company says it works to maximise recycling, reduce energy use and set the standard in sustainable forestry, and its history page notes a 2009 Sustainable Forestry Initiative President's Award. Only one Florida item appears anywhere in that history: the company says it closed its Foley Cellulose mill in Perry in 2023, a different site from this one. Nothing on the pages read gives delivery terms, specifications or a buying contact for Palatka. As described on gp.com, read 23 September 2026.

The Southern Group of State Foresters' Primary Forest Products Network register lists this as a pulp and paper mill at 375 Muscogee Road in Cantonment, taking softwood, with Escambia County as its home county. International Paper's website says nothing about it. The pages read were the corporate home page and four packaging-services pages, and none of them names a Florida facility, a mill contact or a fibre specification. What the site does carry is the company's account of itself: International Paper (NYSE: IP; LSE: IPC) describes itself as the global leader in sustainable packaging solutions, and publishes its lines as corrugated packaging, bulk packaging, solid fiber, sheets, retail packaging and display, and containerboard, alongside a recycling business it calls a cornerstone of the global paper supply chain. The services pages are aimed at packaging customers rather than landowners — structural design, graphic design, printing, testing, fulfilment and assembly, and mechanical packaging — run through customer commitment centres in Aurora, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee, with a globally connected design team the company puts at more than 250 people drawing on over 1.8 million designs. The company says it is taking the next step in a transformation journey to reshape its business in North America. Its recent notices include the acquisition of North Pacific Paper Company, ground broken on a packaging facility in Mississippi, and a place on the 2026 World's Most Ethical Companies list. A landowner weighing a haul to Cantonment will find none of what matters for that decision — species, wood specifications, gate hours or a procurement contact — published on the corporate site. Binderholz names Live Oak on its group locations page, listing it with Atlanta and Enfield as its three sites in the United States. The group is an Austrian, family-managed timber business headquartered in Fuegen, Tirol, with plants across Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Latvia and Finland as well as the U.S. Its stated product range runs from sawn, profiled and planed lumber through cross-laminated timber (CLT BBS), glulam, solid structural wood and solid wood panels to pressboard pallets and pallet blocks, wood pellets and briquettes, and horse bedding. Binderholz says it works to a 'zero-wood-waste' principle, using the log in its entirety - high-quality sawn timber first, with sawmill by-products converted to green energy in its own biomass combined heat and power stations or made into biofuels - starting from what it calls conservative harvesting in sustainably managed forests. The pages read do not state what the Live Oak site itself produces, what it buys, or its capacity, as described on binderholz.com, read 22 September 2026.
Boatright Timber Services presents itself as a full-lifecycle timber business rather than a sawmill alone. Its about page states that the firm was founded in 1983 by Alan Boatright, has served North Florida and South Georgia for more than 40 years, and was bought from him in 2024 by Drew Miller and Brad Oglesby, who the site says are continuing his approach. The services it advertises are land management, timber buying and logging, sawmilling, reforestation, forestry mulching, custom land clearing, firewood sales and delivery, forestry consulting, tractor services and forestry mowing, herbicide spraying and forestry burning, and food plots. On milling, the site says customers can bring cut timber in for drying and sawmilling or choose from the company's own cuts to get the boards they need, and it describes milling custom slabs for builders; its stated philosophy is that every cut should create value, harvesting with precision and optimizing yield. Land clearing is offered selectively or full-site, with stump removal and debris management, skid-steer and dozer-based options, and grading, preparation and erosion-control support. Firewood is a substantial part of the business: the company sells cut, split and seasoned hardwood, described as oak, hickory and cherry blends, by the legal cubic foot, with curbside pickup at what it calls its Havana timber yard or delivery with stacking available, and it publishes a price list by the cubic foot, by the twenty-cubic-foot scoop and by the cord. It says commercial firewood customers such as restaurants and hospitality businesses can have kiln-dried or seasoned wood. The site gives the yard address as 1466 FL-GA Hwy in Havana, posts weekday and Saturday morning hours, and closes Sundays. The business is recorded in the Primary Forest Products Network directory of the Southern Group of State Foresters as a Gadsden County mill buying hardwood and softwood. Bushnell Sawmill Inc. is a custom sawmill located near Bushnell, between Ocala and Tampa, three and a half miles west of Interstate 75 at exit 314 on County Road 48. For more than twenty years, by its own account, the mill has provided custom cut and custom milled cypress, pine and local hardwoods to customers across Florida and the United States, and it describes itself as one of the most versatile sawmills in Florida. Its published product list runs to dimensional lumber, timbers, flooring in heart pine, cypress, rustic oak and wide plank, paneling, molding, trailer decking, industrial blocking, boat trailer bunks, siding and fencing. Industrial customers, the mill says, count on it for trailer decking, boat trailer timbers, oak blocking and dunnage, and it states that its wood has gone into projects ranging from small do it yourself cabins to multi million dollar houses and major motion pictures. The invitation on the site is to call for something special rather than for commodity grade framing lumber. No minimum order, price list or timber buying program is published. Cracker Sawmill is a sawmill in Williston, Florida, in Levy County, in North Central Florida. It cuts lumber on a bandsaw mill and specializes in cypress and southern yellow pine. The mill sits on a 120 acre tract, with over 100,000 square feet of space for its sawmill and milling work. The mill sells rough and finished lumber, tongue and groove for ceilings, walls and flooring, and radius edge decking. It also makes exterior log siding in cypress and pine, cypress board and batten, and sells hand peeled cypress trees and swell bottom decorative cypress trees. Lumber is sold in random lengths from 4 to 16 feet, with beams up to 44 feet on request. Most orders are filled within 2 to 3 working days, though large custom beams can take longer. There is no minimum order size for regular stocked cypress or southern yellow pine lumber. Terrell Howell opened the mill in 2002. He has worked in the logging and timber industry for over 37 years, and the mill is part of Howell Logging and Cracker Style Log Homes. The business says it offers "the finest cypress and southern yellow pine products" to customers nationwide. This suits someone shopping for cypress or southern yellow pine lumber, log siding or decorative cypress trees for a building or finishing job. From crackersawmill.com, read 18 October 2026.
Great South Timber & Lumber, LLC runs two operations in Lake City: a corporate and procurement office at 517 SE Baya Drive, and a sawmill at 1135 FL-100, which is the address carried on this listing. Its about text says the company has been in the wood products business since 1985, with a procurement division that purchases and harvests southern yellow pine timber and a sawmill that manufactures southern yellow pine lumber. The professional staff within the procurement division, the site says, purchases and harvests southern yellow pine for the lumber, pulp and paper industries in the north Florida area; three foresters, Austin Thrasher, Charles S. Corbett and Chase Clark, are listed under procurement alongside procurement manager J. Russ Hannon, which is the group a landowner with pine to sell would be dealing with. The sawmill side supplies the roof truss, wood treating and pallet manufacturing industries, with a focus on dimension machine stress rated (MSR) 2x4; the company says it also produces 1x4, 2x6 and 4x4 products. Robert P. Cook is named president and Robert P. Cook, Jr. vice president, and the staff listing runs to sixteen named people across corporate, procurement and the mill, including a green end manager, a dry end manager and quality control. Under a heading reading 'Proud Members of the Following' the company names the Florida Forestry Association, the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau and the SE Lumber Manufacturer's Association, Inc. Kempfer Sawmill, Inc. sits on the Kempfer family's Deer Park ranch land east of St Cloud in Osceola County, and the company's own history page traces it a long way back. George W. Hopkins moved from Michigan to Florida in 1888 to harvest timber and take advantage of the prairies at the headwaters of the St John's River for raising cattle, and built a large sawmill, the Union Cypress Company, south of Melbourne in the town of Hopkins, served by a railroad he laid east to Deer Park with spurs branching out across the ranch. Union Cypress burned down in 1919. In early 1980 Hopkins's great-grandsons Reed and Billy Kempfer constructed a new cypress sawmill at Deer Park as Kempfer Sawmill, Inc., and the sawmill page says the two of them run it today; the ranch alongside it began trading as Kempfer Cattle Company in 1983 and is described as running to roughly 25,000 acres. The product the mill puts forward is its Certified K-Turf playground mulch, which it describes as double ground and a 100 percent natural product containing no chemicals or artificial ingredients. Natural certified playground engineered wood fibre, it says, offers a surface for playgrounds that is safe, accessible and affordable, and is the modern choice for play area designers, schools and others concerned with the safety of children, a healthy environment and meeting government standards; product certification can be verified through IPEMA. Prices are quoted by phone. The mill is not open to the public every day and asks customers to call for an appointment. As described on kempfercattleco.com, read 23 September 2026.
Pride Enterprises is published on its own website as PRI Enterprises, the Prison Rehabilitative Industries organization that has operated in Florida since its founding in 1981 and now describes itself as a nationally recognized model for correctional workforce development. Its stated mission is to connect workforce training inside correctional institutions with real work experience, so that people preparing to reenter their communities leave with a trade while government agencies, nonprofit organizations and business partners get a dependable supplier. The published catalog is broad rather than forestry-specific: printing, food processing, a dental lab, an optical lab, garments and uniforms, corrugated box products, modular office furniture and casegoods, and a line of outdoor products covering tables, benches, receptacles, fire rings, signs and kiosks, fencing and barriers, and lumber. Maintenance and renovation services are offered alongside the manufactured goods. The site does not describe a sawmill, timber buying, or any operation at the Raiford location specifically. As described on priflorida.org, read 23 September 2026.
The Southern Group of State Foresters' Primary Forest Products Network register lists this as a softwood sawmill at 40 SW 10th Street in Cross City, in Dixie County. The Resolute Forest Products web address on file now answers as Domtar, and the company's own history page explains why. Abitibi-Consolidated merged with Bowater in 2007 to become AbitibiBowater, which changed its name to Resolute Forest Products in 2011; Domtar was acquired by Paper Excellence Group in 2021; two years later Paper Excellence's owner, Jackson Wijaya, acquired Resolute Forest Products, bringing the companies under one umbrella; and in October 2024 Paper Excellence rebranded under the Domtar name, integrating the operations of Domtar Corporation, Resolute Forest Products and the legacy Paper Excellence business. The lineage the company traces for itself runs back further still — to the William Price Company of 1820, exporting Quebec lumber to Great Britain, and to Henry Potter Burt's Burt, Boulton Holding Company of 1848, which became Dominion Tar and Chemical and then Domtar. None of the pages read names Cross City, Dixie County or any Florida operation. At company level Domtar calls itself a North American manufacturer of forest products, with roughly 60 locations across North America, more than 13,000 employees worldwide and $3.7 million in community giving across North America in 2025. Its businesses are paper, packaging, pulp and tissue and wood products, the wood products side covering lumber, remanufactured wood products, engineered wood products and woodland operations. It states a vision of being the global leader in the forest products sector, and gives its United States corporate address as 234 Kingsley Park Drive, Fort Mill, South Carolina. As described on domtar.com, read 23 September 2026.
Rex Lumber's history page dates the Bristol mill to 1980, when the McRae family, having just sold the original Rex Lumber Company at Graceville, began building a new Southern Yellow Pine sawmill at Bristol under the name North Florida Lumber, Inc. The site says the mill started production in 1981, that sister company North Florida Woodlands, Inc. was formed in 1980 to procure timber for the Bristol mill, and that 1986 brought Apalachee Pole Company, Inc., which the family and employees call APC and which manufactures utility poles and pilings treated with CCA, chromated copper arsenate. The company's own location index lists Bristol as the home of the Bristol Mill, Apalachee Pole Company, Woodlands Timber and Rex Transportation, and its contact page gives the Bristol address and telephone number carried in this listing, along with a named general manager. Rex Lumber describes itself as a fourth-generation, family-owned lumber manufacturer established in the 1920s and running four mills in Florida, Mississippi and Alabama; the company name dates to 1926 in Graceville, so the firm is considerably older than this mill. It states that the McRae family also owns over 16,000 acres of timber land in Florida, Alabama and Georgia, and that its mills use state-of-the-art equipment to turn harvested timber into southern yellow pine lumber with almost no waste. On the buying side, the Woodlands Timber page lists Bristol staff including a procurement manager, a senior procurement forester, a procurement forester, forestry staff and a forestry technician, plus a pole procurement manager and a pole marker, but it publishes no minimum tract size and no buying terms. The mill is recorded in the Primary Forest Products Network directory of the Southern Group of State Foresters as a softwood sawmill in Liberty County. As described on rex-lumber.com, read 23 September 2026.
Tatum Brothers Lumber Company has been cutting southern yellow pine at Lawtey, in Bradford County, since 1963. Its history page says Tom Tatum Senior founded the company in 1930 in northern Mississippi, starting with a peckerwood mill cutting pine framing, and that his sons Tom Tatum Jr and Charles Tatum carried on the family business and brought it to its present north Florida site, a position in the Southern Pine Belt the company calls a very important part of its formula for success. Tom Jr's sons Tom III and John later bought partnerships in the company, and the plant today consists of a sawmill, two planer mills and a shop. The four owners are described with distinct jobs: Tom III supervises the sawmill, John manages the planer mill, Tom Jr oversees the shop and maintenance, and Charles is the salesman and logistics specialist. The company describes itself as a North Florida based, family-owned business committed to being involved in the local and regional communities that have supported it over the years, and says believing in its employees and creating strong relationships is the key to its success. On products, the site says southern yellow pine's golden colour and wood grain give a consistently high quality product, that the distinctively dense wood offers durability for construction projects, and that its process is highly efficient with nothing going to waste, so an array of by-products is offered alongside the lumber. The office is open Monday to Thursday from 7.30am to 5.30pm and on Friday until 5pm. As described on tatumbrothers.wixsite.com, read 23 September 2026.
Thrift Log Homes is carried in the Primary Forest Products Network mill directory at Macclenny, in Baker County, as a softwood sawmill. The website held for it presents the business as Thrift Log Homes of Florida and describes the selling side of the operation rather than the mill: a Florida company specialising in cypress log homes and log cabins. The site says it sells cypress only, for its longevity and lower maintenance, and argues in its FAQ that cypress holds up to Florida and Georgia humidity, termites and other wood-eating insects in a way pine does not, pointing out that some of the oldest wooden log structures in both states are cypress. Rather than a fixed catalogue of plans, it offers to quote any floor plan a customer brings, including a conventional house plan, a competitor's plan or a concrete block plan converted to a log home, and names old-world Cracker style and newer hybrid log homes as its specialities, with free custom design on every home. It also says it will help a buyer build a start-to-finish budget without later change orders. Areas it names for service are St. Augustine, Williston, Live Oak, Lake City, Ocala and Jacksonville, and it adds that it can build anywhere in Florida where the customer has land. The company describes itself as a Florida company with a single location, registered on Florida SunBiz, and states that it works by appointment only. As described on thriftloghomes.com, read 23 September 2026.
The corporate pages read for this listing do not name the Whitehouse operation west of Jacksonville or say what it takes in or produces, so nothing here should be read as West Fraser's own account of this particular mill, as described on westfraser.com, read 22 September 2026.
Wilson Lumber Company is a sawmill on Highway 90 east of Milton, in Santa Rosa County, and its about page says it was established in 1972 by Clifford Wilson and is family owned and operated: Gary Wilson and his sons, Frank and Stuart, manage and operate the sawmill, and Frank's wife, Raeann, manages the office. The company describes itself plainly as a small business, not a box store, and says it takes time to help its customers; the home page marks 54 years in the trade. The mill specialises in cutting cypress, and says it supplies Santa Rosa, Escambia, Okaloosa and surrounding areas with cypress lumber in rough and dressed form, along with log siding, bevel siding, and tongue-and-groove V-edge and flooring. Beams are available on order in various sizes, with availability depending on the logs on hand at the time. Beyond lumber the yard sells cypress mulch, red coloured mulch and chocolate brown coloured mulch, and planer mill shavings and sawdust for horse stalls and chicken houses. Prices and availability are given by phone rather than published, and the site invites customers to come by the office and look at the different products on offer. The office keeps Monday to Friday hours from 8am to 4.30pm with a midday lunch break, and opens Saturday mornings until 11.30. As described on wilsonlumberco.com, read 23 September 2026.
The Florida Woodsmith is a sawmill service for Gainesville and the surrounding area in North-Central Florida, in Alachua County. The owner says the work is primarily sawmilling: "I can come to your property and collect that log" and return it as lumber cut to your specifications. Species listed include ash, black oak, cherry, hickory, maple, pecan, cedar, cypress, poplar, pine and oak. Milling costs as little as $1.25 per linear foot, and logs yielding under 40 linear feet carry a $50 minimum. Logs need to be at least 10 inches across at the smaller end and cut to lengths between 6 and 12 feet, with about 6 extra inches for end checking. Seal the cut ends right away, or have the owner do it for $2 per end. If you bring the log to the mill yourself, you can pick up the green lumber, sticker it and dry it, and the price is lower. The business also buys logs from tree services and land clearing, priced by the ton or by the load, with the price negotiable. Slab flattening, trimming and edging, joining slabs and epoxy work are also offered. Shop services are temporarily unavailable after a workshop fire in June 2025, while the owner looks for a property to move the sawmill to. The owner has 20 years of woodworking in the Gainesville area. It is a one-person business that sometimes works offsite, so some days may not be available. This suits a landowner with a few felled or cleared trees near Gainesville who wants lumber cut to their own dimensions and is willing to dry it themselves. From floridawoodsmith.com, read 18 October 2026.
Lumber By Lance is a portable sawmill business in Fort White, Florida, in north central Florida. They bring a sawmill to your property and cut your logs into lumber on site. The business began in 1994, and their site says the founder has more than 30 years in sawmilling. The county listed for them is Columbia. Their services are portable sawmilling, kiln drying, and custom lumber and slabs. The portable mill can take logs up to about 20 feet long and 22 inches across, and they use a Lucas mill for wide slabs. Their kiln drying is aimed at reducing warping, cracking, and insect damage before the wood goes indoors. They list cherry, oak, hickory, pecan, and pine. If you would rather not have the mill on site, you can bring logs to them for a reduced hourly price. They also say they work with local planer mills and cabinet makers to take the wood into flooring, paneling, or cabinet stock. They say they produce on-site lumber for less than $1.50 per board foot across all species. Their site puts it this way: "nothing beautiful should be wasted." Logs should be reasonably accessible before they arrive, and a clear working space helps. Lumber By Lance suits a landowner who wants logs from their own land turned into lumber, slabs, or finished pieces for a home or project. From lumberbylance.com, read 18 October 2026.

Florida Crotchwood is a mobile sawmill based in Fort White, Florida. They bring the mill to your property, so you don't have to haul a big log anywhere. Their Lucas mill cuts trees up to 60 inches wide and 20 feet long, and they say they start where a Wood-Mizer stops. They also do custom cutting and planing, have a dry kiln, and do urban recycling, which means cutting yard and streetscape trees. Setup is simple. If the tree is on the ground, you need an open area about 13 feet wide and 20 feet long so they can assemble the saw around the log. The mill fits through a 4 foot gate and is ready to cut in about twenty minutes. You won't need heavy equipment tearing up the lawn or a loader to move the log. They don't build furniture or cut down trees, but if you have a big tree, they suggest calling them before you hire a tree service, since they can often save you money on dumping fees. Keep in mind they cut slabs, not boards. "Please remember we cut slabs, not boards." Their species include laurel oak, monkey pod, pecan, red oak, red bay, hickory, camphor, eucalyptus, sweet gum, box elder, spalted sycamore, spalted hackberry, and old growth river recovered cypress. Lori Frazee and Paula Nicks bought the mill in mid 2008 and started out supplying woodturners with turning blanks. They list Columbia County among the areas they serve. This suits a landowner with a big hardwood or a yard tree who wants slabs for a table or counter top and doesn't need boards. From floridacrotchwood.com, read 18 October 2026.

East Palatka Sawmill is a sawmill at 264 Turner Road in East Palatka, Florida. The business has been family-owned and operated since it was founded in 1972, and it says it has run through three generations of the family. Its own words for the work are "Florida-grown lumber, milled with care." The mill cuts custom timbers, live-edge slabs and dimensional lumber. It says it serves contractors, craftspeople and homeowners across North Florida, selling milled wood for their own projects. Its work is selling finished lumber, not buying standing timber or logging a tract. It suits a builder, woodworker or homeowner who needs milled Florida wood for a project, not a landowner who wants to sell timber or have their own trees milled. From eastpalatkasawmill.com, read 18 October 2026.
Strength of the Past Sawmill is a sawmill and wood yard in Wellborn, Florida, run by Lewis Archer. The address is 4345 US 90 East. Besides milling, they list buying your trees and cutting your trees as services, and they also make custom boards, beams, and slabs. Lewis says he selects only the "highest furniture grade lumber" and mills the trees himself. The species they name are red cedar, hickory, cypress, cherry, pine, and pioneer homestead camphor. The main thing to plan around is delivery. The mill only schedules time for logs that are brought to it, so the logs from your land have to get to Wellborn, and you or someone you hire will need to haul them. They name Suwannee as the county they serve. They say they have decades of woodworking behind them, and they state that Lewis has more than 40 years of master carpenter background. The mill is open Monday through Saturday, 7:30 am to 4 pm, with special appointments by request. The phone number is (386) 961-4444. Bruner Lumber Co is a sawmill in Ponce De Leon, Florida, in the Northwest Florida part of the state. For over 35 years it has specialized in river recovered Sinker Cypress and Sinker Pine. In its own words, "we recover much of our lumber ourselves." The logs are old trees that sank while being floated to mills, and the company's divers search the old logging waterways of Northwest Florida and Southern Alabama for them. The work runs in three parts. Divers recover the logs, the logs are milled and dried on site, and the shop turns the wood into custom millwork. That includes flooring and ceiling planks, interior and exterior wall planks, corbels, brackets, rafter tails, and mantelpieces, plus custom profiles and special orders. The species it lists are Sinker Cypress, Pecky Sinker Cypress, Sinker Heart Pine, Tidewater Cypress, Sinker Pine, Longleaf Pine, and Curly Sinker Pine. It serves Walton County and can ship specialty lumber anywhere in the United States. A sample package costs $30. A project starts with a conversation about species, profiles, dimensions, and timeline. The shop is at 528 Sand Plant Road, open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and weekends by appointment only. The office number is (850) 835-4833. Timber Hill Woodworks is a sawmill at 1838 Hagar Avenue, just south of Chipley, Florida. It sells lumber and does custom wood milling for people across the Florida Panhandle. Custom slab cutting, surfacing, and finishing are also offered. Hardwoods such as oak, poplar, maple, pecan, hickory, cherry, gum, and walnut are named, but the hardwood and live edge slab lines are still marked coming soon. Custom milling is 55 cents a board foot, or 65 cents for oak or hickory, or $75 an hour for custom cut logs. They no longer offer portable milling at your location. Non pressure treated pine is $1.15 a board foot, pressure treated is $1.55, oak is $3, and most other specialty woods are $5 a board foot. They note that prices are subject to change. T.O. Mahaffey Tree & Timber Company is a family-owned sawmill in Apopka, Florida, on 30 acres just north of Orlando. Tom, Julie and Katie Mahaffey have run it since 2019. They turn Florida hardwoods into live-edge slabs, mantels and custom milled lumber. If you have a tree down on your place, this is a yard that will take the log. Storm-fallen and land-clearing logs are a common job. "We mill logs other yards turn away" is how they put it, and they will cut it the way you want. Send a photo and rough dimensions, and they will quote it the same week, usually through Katie within a business day. The yard is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5, so you can walk the lot and see the wood before you decide. The species they list are camphor, live oak, bald cypress, heart pine, pecan, magnolia, sweetgum, sycamore and cedar. They also build custom dining tables, bar tops, countertops, benches and fireplace mantels from their own milled wood. They serve Orange County and the wider Central Florida area, and they take tree debris from local tree services and landscapers. It suits a landowner with one particular log, such as a storm-fallen oak or a family pecan, who wants it milled the way they want it cut. From mahaffeytimber.com, read 18 October 2026.
Florida Urban Wood is a sawmill and woodworking shop in Oakland Park, in Broward County. The owner, Way Hoyt, has been in the tree care business for more than 40 years. The shop mills logs into custom cut slabs, live edge slabs, and dimensional lumber, mostly for table tops, coffee tables, consoles, and bar tops. The species include Dade county slash pine heartwood and a variety of tropical hardwood, and the wood is harvested locally in South Florida. Stock slabs run about 4 to 12 feet long and 10 to 30 inches wide, or longer. Each piece is priced by its size and thickness, so the price changes with each project. You need to contact the shop for availability and price. Payment can be made by Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or check. If you have a tree that has to come down, Florida Urban Wood "may want your logs." Its logs are always permitted and legally removed. Way Hoyt is a consulting arborist and may be able to help you obtain the permits you need. His credentials include ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist, ISA Certified Arborist, and Certified Landscape Inspector. He also teaches classes for arborists working toward ISA certification or CEUs. This suits a landowner with a removed tree who wants the wood milled into furniture slabs, or who wants a consulting arborist involved in the permit side of the job. Questions landowners ask
How many mills are there in Florida?
117 are listed on TimberClear, sourced from the Florida Forest Service forest products and services directory, covering consulting foresters and forest products buyers, together with the Forest Products Network mill directory, covering 67 counties between them.
How do I choose between them?
Start local and get more than one. A business based in your county knows the mills and the ground; one registered for all one hundred counties may be three hours away. Every listing here shows how far its office is from the county you are looking at, so "will travel" is never mistaken for "is local". TimberClear has not vetted, verified or endorsed anybody on this site.
