Florida Urban Wood
About Florida Urban Wood
Florida Urban Wood is a sawmill and woodworking shop in Oakland Park, in Broward County. The owner, Way Hoyt, has been in the tree care business for more than 40 years. The shop mills logs into custom cut slabs, live edge slabs, and dimensional lumber, mostly for table tops, coffee tables, consoles, and bar tops. The species include Dade county slash pine heartwood and a variety of tropical hardwood, and the wood is harvested locally in South Florida. Stock slabs run about 4 to 12 feet long and 10 to 30 inches wide, or longer. Each piece is priced by its size and thickness, so the price changes with each project. You need to contact the shop for availability and price. Payment can be made by Visa, MC, AmEx, Discover, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or check. If you have a tree that has to come down, Florida Urban Wood "may want your logs." Its logs are always permitted and legally removed. Way Hoyt is a consulting arborist and may be able to help you obtain the permits you need. His credentials include ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist, ISA Certified Arborist, and Certified Landscape Inspector. He also teaches classes for arborists working toward ISA certification or CEUs. This suits a landowner with a removed tree who wants the wood milled into furniture slabs, or who wants a consulting arborist involved in the permit side of the job.
